I went down a half size in Tacticals from my Nikes. Quite a bit smaller footprint too. For me, the Tacticals were some of the most uncomfortable boots out of the box. The break in period was ridiculous and I was about to abandon them, but after 10 days they got better and after 15 they were perfect. Laces hardly lasted 10 days, but I replaced them with waxed hockey laces and never looked back. The best thing I can say about a boot is that I don't even think of them when I'm riding. That's how I feel about the Tacticals now.

You're making me feel real good about my decision to heat mold the Adidas haha. I had some mild discomfort my first day out and a little bit of pinching touring yesterday. I've got like 4 resort days and 1 day touring, they should be pretty much perfect now.

Those laces are right shit though. I tore a hole in the sheath and they started to fray around a lace hook after 1.5 days on snow. Didn't snap but was on the verge. Just got some new hockey laces from Amazon today, so I'm pumped on that.

Did you heat mold the tacticals prior to your first day in them? Did you do it yourself, or goto a shop? I'm taking them out this weekend for the first time.

I know this wasn't for me, but I'll answer anyway. I had my heat molded at a shop after a few days of riding. I would say there wasn't much change in the foot pain I was feeling immediately after molding them, but eventually they broke in.

I heat molded them. I only get in like 20-25 days a year and I only got them 3 weeks ago, so it might have taken me the rest of my season to break them in. My buddy / shop guy told me heat molding takes maybe 5-10 days off the backend of a liner, but makes the first 5 days much more tolerable. I'll get 5-6 seasons out of these (maybe 3-4 if I go in big on split-touring), so that was fine for me. If I rode 100 days a year I'd probably break them in naturally.

If you plan on riding a lot, I'd just ride out. For my situation it made more sense to mold.

Yeah, I just got mine and will likely only get 15-20 days the rest of this season so maybe I should go ahead and heat mold them.

At that point I'd probably just break them in riding, or at least test ride them and see if you feel like you need to accelerate the process.

hey kind of a long shot but anyone know where i can find a pair of TM-3 in 11? theyre nowhere to be found in canada. if i knew someone in the states who could pick them up for me id have no issue but i cant buy them from a US shop.

Also, ive read theyre fairly bulky. longer footprint than a lashed/tm2? if theyre much bigger ill have to find new bindings. my Union Spring Breaks are maxxed out heel to toe as is.

My favorite shop (Tahoe Sports Hub) doesn't have the Tm-3 but does have the Tm-2 XLT. I'll check with a couple others.

I have 11's they fit in med bindings by Nitro and Salomon fine, make sure you pull you're heel cup out far enough.

I haven't compared them to TM2 or Lashed but I compared the first pair I had of 11.5 to vans infuse size they were about the same length maybe a tad longer and about the same bulkness,

Also if you haven't tried on this years TM2 or TM3 I would highly suggest trying them on. They changed up the fit this year. The smallest TM2 I could fit in before this season was a 12 and now I'm rocking an 11 TM3 I started with 11.5 but they were too sloppy.

ok thanks, there isnt much shop options around me and the only shop that i have access to is out of stock on the tm3 and i didnt try on the tm2 again. i have lashed from last season but if this season fits different than last ill have to go back to try stuff on. and i would love that fit change if it means a slightly shorter foot print. my 11 lashed fit perfectly in my contact pro bases fully extended.

I've heard from two different shop owners they changed the sizing this year. I only tried on this year's, so I can't comment on specifics.

damn good to know, now if there was even a shop near me that had them to try haha. i might end up in a different size then what im in now.

im not one to complain a lot either, i could just deal with my foot pain for the rest of the season and get some next year but my shop only orders all black in most boots bc... well everyone gets it.

See a lot of discussions over Burton SLX which arise my interest in getting a pair myself next season.

Currently on 2016 Ion leather size 8(150 lbs and 30+ days if relevant), pretty happy about its fit and stiffness. I am wondering what's main difference SLX will bring into the game? For a pair of boots I feel the price tag is quite hefty.
