Check out my new .....
I realise it’s just a boring regular board but I love the new Custom X.
Agree, I was tempted a few times this year to re-add to the quiver. This one was a beauty.

Uh, more talk about a mystically fast black base.
Take a marker or bucket of paint to it...
I understand black bases to be infused with carbon (sometimes in the form of graphite), which possibly stabilizes interactions with waxes. Colored and clear PTex are either infused with various pigments or nothing and might not have as stable a molecular interaction with waxes as black bases do. Considering the interactions between base, wax, and snow that influence the way that a ski or snowboard slides over snow:
- We know that a different snow surface (temp, relative moisture, crystal structure) changes the interaction.
- We know that different waxes change the interaction.
- It stands to reason that different base materials, including the chemical pigmentation element of the base, would change the interaction.
