Great looking board.  Did the side get crunched?

Perhaps, but it really looks like something that happened during layup. The base material is pushed straight up with two defined 90 degree bends, and it's all very rounded and smooth like it would be if it had been heated up at the time. The crease on the top is similarly very neat. The side shows no signs of impact.  The topsheet meets a perfect sidewall cleanly, the edge is unbent and matches the other side.

It feels solid now, but it will come apart with time, I'm sure.  Even it doesn't, it will be a bitch to tune, base grinds will be sketchy as hell, and it will be more susceptible to impact.

I hope I can get another one in good repair.  I'm really quite impressed with the look and feel of the thing otherwise.  The base is that hard, sintered Capita stuff, nicely structured, and all the die-cuts are buttery.  It looks much like the base of my old Warpspeed, and that base was excellent.   The shape camber profile also look great, and the graphic is matte finished and awesome.

One thing that stood out is the subtlety of the grip tech.  It's of the bumps-at-the-inserts style, but it's so minimal that I don't know that I can see it.  I think I see something, but may be of the style Flow used to use that just blends in a straight section without any protrusion.  If there is any, it's almost imperceptible, which is a plus because it's super wide and definitely doesn't need it.

If it happened during lay-up, they wouldn't have been able to do the base grind and remove the epoxy overflow to expose that pristine (though now creased) base. Looks to me like shipping damage or a board that fell over in the shop onto something like a carpeted (though still firm) floor. The edge was likely "protected" enough by packaging/carpeting to not show any marring from the impact, but the force created that defect just inboard of the keys from the edge. I've done very similar damage to a board or two from clipping a tree (though there was some scratching of the topsheet and marring of the edge involved, too).

I had something similar on a Burton split long time ago. It happened during transport, I was traveling with the board to ride volcanoes one summer. Since I didn't tune much at the time, I just rode as is, later sold it.-Haven't heard any issues with this particular thing on the board (but heard about issues with the old binding connection crapping out).

Since it's a brand new board, I'd return it and get another one.

@repo Mike, is there any way you'd be willing to sell that Uninc? I've desperately been looking for that exact board.

CM? 156, default stance seems super wide, so adjusting it should give me more nose and tail
