Anybody have any opinions on DC boots? I'm not a fan of the company, but I'm looking for a stiff, fairly low-profile boot, and the Trice and the Judge both look like that. Specifically, I'd like to find something that is low-profile around the ankle. Lots of boots have reduced total footprint, but are massive around the ankles.
I rode DC boots for quite a few seasons. I wouldn't say that they are very stiff. I've had both the Judge and T-Rice, while stiff for a DC boot, they are really not that stiff compared to a lot of other brands. I liked them, but I wouldn't call them a stiff boot, and they were only middle of the road in volume.
Have you tried Ride boots? They are really narrow in the ankle and fit great. They're the only Ride products I own, but damn they're good. Nice and stiff and they don't get soft. They are significantly smaller in volume than the DC boots I owned.
If you have a local shop that carries Ride try on the Insano and Trident, you might be pleasantly surprised.
i have a pair of DC Judge boots from 2015. they are good boots, but a little too soft for me. i'll ride them on pow days or just cruising, but my regular boots are lunarendors. they're not any different than the lunars or my kaijus as far as the volume in a binding they take up. maybe a ratchet click or two on the ankle strap, but certainly not a noticeable amount. they fit me better than the lunars (which is weird cause my kaijus fit really well) and they're a good mid-stiff boot with an articulating cuff, and they pretty damp and absorb landings pretty well also. i personally don't like boa boots though, so not a fan of that. my only real issue with them is that if i land an under-rotated spin on the toe edge, my foot bends up toward my shins which causes straining etc. that's why i like the stiffer nikes.
