Holden has been getting less and less play in my neck of the woods over the last 5+ years. I'll be surprised if I see a single new Holden kit on the slopes this Winter. Not sure who their intended consumer is, but it's not anybody I know.

We aren't the audience, they're just tapping into the luxury outerwear goods market. It's not dumb, I constantly see people commuting in 1K Arc'teryx jackets and Canada Goose shit in my city who have never set a foot outdoors. Holden doesn't have the name cred though.

In my opinion they should stop being pussies and just go all in. Drop the snowpants and snowboard related gear and go away. You are dead to me Holden of the past.

I imagine a small percentage of the fashion market is larger than a large percentage of the snowboard market. Not like they ever had that.  I do also question if they have enough cred to make it work, but maybe that doesn't matter as much as I think it should. Can positioning with art and design grow an outerwear brand on it's own? Seems the brands that have the high end market put a lot into their story of being true to core of extreme adventures, athletes and "pushing the envelope". I don't see that here. It's more like art and design for the sake of the art and design. imo.

Holden is missing the requisite bird logo/name to fit in there.

they’re selling to the guy who drives his kitted-out Jeep with the top down while it’s 22 degrees and rain-snowing out and comes in to try on all of our 3l stuff to stay dry on his commute. he flexes on you with his iPad pro &Pencil combo, then abruptly leaves without buying anything because he has a “business meeting” in five minutes.

Maybe I'm the odd one here but I've always thought Holden is more of a fashion / lifestyle brand. I see that the corkshell stuff has high tech and I would wear it, partly for the unique look. I also like the look of the fleece above. Would I buy it for $250 - don't think so.

Have always been a big fan of the fit and quality of their snow outerwear, at least the 20K+ stuff. They've definitely moved in a weird direction lately. I remember flipping through their lookbook last Spring and thinking WTF?? Some of you guys above pretty much nailed it. My old lady, who was a fashion major in a past life, pretty said the same thing at the time.

Not a real Jeep though, a 4-door JK at best.

I figure it’s pretty full in the center of a Venn diagram for “delusional idiots” and “marketing geniuses.”  Since they are paying for office space and a showroom on abbot Kinney, it seems like the delusional part is covered.

This marketing shift seems a long way from “thank you for being you.”

Still love my holden gear tho.

I like some of their styles to be honest, but the marketing...
