Niche is now made at the Capita Mothership factory (I think as of last season). As such, quality appears pretty good and graphics are really sick in person. The Pyre (and women's Ember) have setback camber with a little bit of an early rise nose, so obviously they ride nothing like the other models that have a centered rocker camber profile. Most or all of Niche's other models have pronounced magnetraction but the Pyre/Ember only have a 1 bump on each side of the binding inserts, more like Arbor's griptech and Yes' underbite, so it doesn't have that hookiness that makes regular mag so stupid. Supposedly they make the most eco-friendly boards now which is nice to know I guess?

This thing is stupid light and has decent pop, so it's really easy to ollie and spin. This thing reminds me of a Warpig that doesn't suck at high speeds and through choppy shit, which makes it way more versatile for a true all mountain deck. Wouldn't call it damp...you do get feedback, but is stable enough that you don't get bucked around. It's pretty damn stiff, so I imagine it's similar to what the upcoming Ride Superpig will feel like, except the 1m longer sidecut radius (7.1 vs 6.2) lets you actually draw out some carves on terrain steeper than the bunny hill. I had a 150, but would like to try the 155 to see how the float compares to my similarly sized 420 PH.

According to @elektropow in first post in thread, no longer Mothership as of 19/20. I think both the boards I had were built at GST which shut down in early-2015. They announced Mothership partnership in late-2016, so they probably had their 16/17 boards pressed elsewhere before going to Mothership for 17/18. GST shutting down is just bad luck, but I wonder what's deal with Mothership.

I always liked Niche boards but in italy there isnt a supplier.. it s a pity..

i think that there aren t  European supplies too..

A few retailers though. Maybe they order direct?

I found only a dutch shop in internet named  Snowcountry ...

Buy directly from them for me it s too expensive (shipping cost and customs fees)

You're in Italy right? No customs man. I've ordered from them. Also glisshop in france and a third one I can't find right now..

Yes.

Are you sure? Because i ve wrote directly to them and said me that they don t know about customs fees.. probably there are or not, i don t know.

ah ok many thanks , i ll check on Glisshop

Where are you from?

Within EU you shouldn't have to pay customs. Or has there been asuperr quick "ixit" I haven't read about?

From Finland.

Always thought you were for somewhere from the alps or just living there? @elektropow

Hahaa! Nah, just bumming through the winters in Les Arcs. Been a few now.

Great freeride day again. Epic steeps and proper snow that was cold again. Fluffy, mmm.

I just order a 155 Pyre.  I'll be sure to post pics once it shows up, followed by my thoughts on it once I've put in some days on it.

One of the guys at my local shop got that deck cos wanted something in the 27cm+ ww range for his size 11 boots. It's a beautiful board and was ripping with it all season. Rips trenches and was taking it all over the park, whenever we lapped together. If it was in the 26cm range instead, I would've got it myself. Love the shape and aesthetic, as well.

Pyre was high on my list of wants (still is) but I went with a optimistic instead b/c I got a hothot deal on it. I really like the specs on that baord tho and I can't wait to her what you have to say about it.

Nah, I went with last year's 155.  Like most, I rarely purchase anything at full MSRP, so that was a consideration, but I also like the specs from last year's boards more.  The 2019 is a few mms wider than this years (the 2019 155 and the 2020 160 both have 27.5 cm waists).

The 155 will fit into my quiver better, as I want something short to switch up the feel and play around in the woods.  A couple seasons back, I took my buddies Cool Bean 150 for a day and loved it for the most part, but didn't like how little tail there was and couldn't get down with the flat profile.  I found that it would almost deflect off the snow when landing little drops and I'd go arse over eyebrows unexpectedly in a way that I've never experienced before.  My buddy reports the same. It's almost like that board flicks out from under you on landings at times.

Last year I picked up a DC HR 160 looking for something with that vibe, but with camber and a tail.  I was a really fun board, but was a little too wide through the nose contacts and a tad too long to get the feeling I was looking for.  The combo of width and length made it too cumbersome edge to edge in the trees unless there was a shit ton of snow.  My local very rarely has those conditions, and on the days I snowshow in the backcountry with a solid on my back, I always take my Hammerhead and probably always will. We don't get enough snow for it to really shine around here. If I lived in the interior or rode Baker or something like that, I would have held onto it.  It was actually most fun on groomers here at my local, but I have other boards that shine more in that regard, so I sold it.

I am hoping that, for me and my purposes, this one will be the bowl of porridge Goldilocks ate.  Camber, some tail, a wide nose that is not crazy wide (32.2 vs 33.2), and a short overall length. I'm going to pair it with Now Pilots, which should handle the width well while still having a somewhat playful flex.

I think this will round out my quiver nicely.  As it stands, I'll now be running a custom 4mm titanal Jasey-Jay softboot carver w/O-drives mounted on risers, a Fullbag Hammerhead 171 w/Drives, a Neversummer Westbound 165w w/Drives (haven't ridden that one yet either), a Niche Pyre 155 w/Pilots, and my fuck-around/park twin, which is a Lobster Sender 159w w/Salomon Defenders.

I suspect I will be good for a while now, as I will have all my bases covered: a dedicated carver for morning groomers that requires fresh legs, a big gun powder/groomer slayer, a lazy all-arounder, a short-fat and a twin for fucking around on.

It is. Same as any illustration photo. I don't see how a close up would help give you a clearer picture.

However, it doesn't ride like any mervin board.
