Yes! If that was 5 cm longer and I had $1400 in the snowboard fund...

Specs look pretty much perfect to me. Price though is too rich for my blood. I would rather take a rad trip than fork out that much for a board that will need bindings too.

@highme Haha Thank you for letting me know the rules. I am all for them!

Just wanted to double check, I hate feeling like I am pushing stuff on here. Being small, self promotion is important, but doesn't really fit my personal style. But at the same time, I want people to know what I am doing.

Stoked you like the vid too man, cheers.

Not to speak for others, but I think you'll find that as long as you sincerely engage the community here, we enjoy your presence and don't mind the promoting. We're tech nerds and we've responded well (even with some purchases I think) in the past when folks from specific brands have indulged us with tech details (i.e. Nose, Mig, that ex-board designer from Smokin, I think someone from Rome even was here briefly in one of the previous iterations of the forum), but that isn't to say that we have some sort of unwritten rule that sort of dialog is expected.

Although I do like the trolling that ensues when someone's first post ends up as a peddling sales pitch for their business.

I basically fall into the same demographic as all the users here. I am always happy to talk snowboarding, in any context. Boards, gear in general, places to ride, conditions, etc. I fell into the snowboard nerd trap, the first time I strapped in. I was the kid calling Burton in 89', asking if they could send a catalogue to my house. When I told them I lived in Australia, they couldn't stop laughing. But to their credit, they sent it, every year!

If anyone ever has any questions regarding my boards, board building, or info on Hokkaido or snowboarding down under, let me know. Always happy to help out.

I am currently releasing Special Release (_SR series) shapes in different widths/lengths/graphics etc. I have moved to selling only direct from my factory, which has enabled me to be more free in the way I release boards. In the past I was dictated by the retailer cycle, but that format doesn't suit a small manufacturer like myself.  The current range of boards I offer, are basically my dream quiver. When I first started OFSR, I had the belief that if I wanted to be original, I needed to make boards which were an extension of myself. Over time, I am starting to use my initial designs, and adjust them for different people.

I would love to be able to offer something for everyone, but being small, means it takes more time and demand for me to be able to offer a larger variety. I do make custom boards though, for those who do not suit anything I currently offer.

Also, I know my boards are quite expensive, but unfortunately that is the nature of being a small producer, and using only high grade materials. I literally only make a couple of hundred boards each year, and if people knew the cost to make, and my actual margins, they would think I am crazy! So I understand not everyone will either like my shapes, specs, graphics, or price, but that is the beauty of having so many choices from different brands.

I am proud of the fact that compared to other brands who charge similar, or in some cases a lot more than me, my boards are actually made in Japan, with above ward wages, by people who truely care about the craft, with no sacrifices being made on materials. I wish there was still a strong snowboard building industry outside of the current large scale production, as it would allow smaller guys like myself the chance to obtain materials, machinery, and expertise at a lower cost/volume.

In saying all of this, it is my choice to build my boards at the location, scale and quality that I currently do, which in turns affects the final price, and how achievable that is for the consumer. I wish I could offer them at a more  competitive rate, but that is just the reality of the situation. So I thank everyone who supports my boards, in any aspect. From riding one, to merely checking them out and liking what I am doing, it all is appreciated.

If anyone has any questions, just let me know.

Cheers,

Mon

Got myself on the OFSR cabin fever 158 a few weeks back in some fresh, hard pack and crud in the Tassie BC... Super smooth, mid/stiff flex and was just a pleasure to ride. No need to adjust your riding, just plug and play. Felt damp but still nice and lively.

If you get a chance to purchase or demo- do it!  These boards are amazing. @offshoremon and his team have perfected their build quality and materials and the way it rides reflects that.

Stoked to hear you enjoyed the Cabin Fever mate. Love hearing and seeing people riding my boards, especially in places like Tasmania. I always wonder when I am laying them up, where they might end up. Photos look epic btw!

Some more Offshore spam for you guys.

I just put up my latest Special Release board, which is a new shape designed by John Cardiel.

It is a short, mid-wide 153 directional twin. Board >  http://tiny.cc/cardiel_153

I made a small edit of some time spent at Boreal with John this spring.

For anyone who might be interested, you can check it out here >

@:57... Awe shit... Surprise Russel Winfield!

Super rad video. Cardiel is skatebaording and it's rad to see him riding a snowboard again.

Idk how to think about 110 setback on a twin tho. haha.

@5:77 Oh. Cardiel has a Grimple Stix sticker on his board... I could be like Cardiel and put a Grimple sticker on a board...

@7:24  AHHHH WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!!!  I'll never be like Cardiel. What was I thinking!

Haha I am on the same page with the setback, but John has to ride super tail heavy due to his injury. We both agreed we had to give the people exactly what he is riding as an option as well.

It also comes standard with just 20mm setback.

John swears by the setback though. Having the extra nose, and allowing him to pivot off the back, has really helped with his riding again. He did his first backside air in 14 years this past spring! Full, classic Cardiel Method.

I often put things in a cart and dream as well. The life of a cash strapped snowboarder! ha

There wasn't any doubt before about the legend status of Cardiel. And doing a backside air on that board with that setback is just a footnote. But damn.

All Hail Cardiel!

@matti86

Hey Matti,

I am stoked to hear you like my boards man. We can always ship to Italy, hit me up on info@offshoresnowshapes.com if you want any info. A good way to save on shipping, is to see if a friend wants a board from Japan, then you can split shipping.

I hope you guys get pounded in Europe this season!

Cheers,

Mon
