whats the story with these?

My buddy has the Koi in a couple different sizes and has been raving about it for a couple years now. Fit/finish on his boards are really good and it's very stiff--think Flagship/PYL. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet, but hopefully this season. Also checked out the Viking at a shop in Tokyo...first impression was similar flex and quality.

Yeah reading the specs/descriptions I am *very* curious. Arcane Split woulda been right up my alley but they're sold out. :\

Off topic, do people consider the PYL to be that stiff? I have felt a few from the last few seasons that seemed mild, and tried my buddy’s 2019 real quick last year - it wasn’t used a lot, and was not as stiff as my squash, and a flagship is stiffer than that..

I've got the version before the ash topsheet upgrade, so reportedly a bit softer, but did upsize to 162. Very stable charger, but wouldn't call it really stiff. Can easily pop into nose butters without much body work, just a quick ollie and swing your weight back.. The camber zone is quite short as well so I doubt it would even feel that stiff even if it were.

Lot of people digging the Koi in Les Arcs, but I think the Shaman is the most popular board at the moment (many sales people sell it as an improved t.rice, which has a big following). Some freeride competitors are using that as well as the Arcane to a smaller extent. But then again, the French are quite known of blowing their own horn.. And it gets icy, so at least that part of the demographic is covered by the brand.

When I demo'ed the PYL as a replacement to my LL, it didn't jump out as too stiff.  Quite enjoyed it and dabbled on maybe picking it up, but didn't as the length and width were off to what I was looking for.

Absolutely love my PYL 160W. I'd probably call it my daily driver actually. Has never let me down. The only board I've seen recently that made me think might replace it eventually is the Prior Khyber.

It’s very similar in scope to my DDs the last bunch of years, like the Mullair. It’s nice to see shapes like those becoming the new “twin” in a sense.

My friend Trent rides the 59

Slighty softer 159 with mid bite (more switch friendly) but with a progressive sidecut would easily be a daily driver for me. I know the Standard is pretty close to that but is a bit clumsy on hard snow for my us8 feet: thing is pretty wide..
