Since we are discussing Amplid

I have 2 Amplids in my rotation this season (I'm on 8 boards so far, day 60 with 4 weeks to go):

One of them is a 19-20 proto:

2019-20 Amplid "Snommelier" 166 (based on the limited run JN from early 2019), a 166 swallowtail powcruiser. Loads of fun to just point it and cruise.

Amplid FW19/20 Snowboard Preview

Peter Bauer was right behind Craig Kelly a lot back in the day, also had his signature Burton board (a combo deal with Jean Nerva, an asym carving board called the PJ). Before leaving Burton and starting Amplid, Bauer was apparently deeply involved in the design & development of the Burton Supermodels.

Amplid moved its manufacturing from Capita Mothership to Playmaker (same factory as Nitro) last summer. The finish quality of these boards is top notch (I also have an 18-19 Creamer Split).

You might need to cut your toes off to fit on them 😋  😜

I'd also love a mid 90s custom shape with modern tech.

Mmmmh... He might have been involved in some tech aspects of it, I don't really know. But I am pretty sure that the OG Supermodel's shape, and the following Cascade series that replaced them, were Craig Kelly's boards and the result of his input.

~6' or 182cm | way too fat | US 10.5 - Mondo 28.5
Quiver: Fullbag boards 154 to 181 cm | powder/carving/snowsurf
Boots: Burton Driver X with Scarpa Plus Fit High Liners and custom powerstrap
Bindings: Ride El Hefe | Now Drive

Maybe he was just involved in the second gen of supermodels which came after the frontier, cascade and republik.

Yeah, could be. But if he was, it must have been in the early stages of development. He had already left Burton (around 2005?) when the second gen supermodels came out (2007/2008 season).

I still have a Frontier 185 prototype. That was one hell of a beast!

it was on issuu, but now it seems to have been taken down.

i believe boot demos have ran before, like at some of those massive demos run at larger resorts. the first one that comes to mind is the massive demo events that used to go along with the SIA on snow and the snow trade show typically. also this season seems to have less coverage for next years gear than previous, but that could just be recency bias
