Yah...My stratas exceeded expectations...M fits perfect 9.5 nike....

Tell me more about Stratas.

Crazy damp.  Amazing straps.  I thought they might be a Bit soft but they’re almost as responsive as my falcors .    Just strap in and forget   No screws loose

Hi my dearest friends I have an issue with my Unions!

This season I'm riding 2017 Taro Tamais with 2017 Union Ultras.

Thing is, I'm using the ankle straps from the 2016 Flite Pros (don't know what they are called) but I'm experiencing bad pressure points. At first I thought it was the boots fault being new but they are super confortable when not riding, while unbearably hurting when downhill.

I'm swapping the ankle strap with the (exoframe?) from the Ultras to see if it helps, do I have other options? I know some of you use Genesis or Malavita straps, what should I choose? also the Karakoram Air-Form for the same price. I don't really know what to choose

thanks!

I would just use the Exoframes the Ultra comes with. then just remember to not over-crank them down.

I'm probably going to work towards switching the entire quiver over to these. the only downside is the size of the footbed, but I haven't had too many real-world issues with it.

Can someone remind me how to fix a buckle that won't lock down? It's just a certain spot that I usually ride that comes loose, when I tighten past that point it holds.

Are Unions any better these days? Every pair I've ever rode develops some problem. I'm not likely to change up as I've been riding these franken-Atlas' forever and dig them, but just kind of getting tired of binding problems. Actually, now that I'm thinking how old they really are that change up is getting tempting.

newer ratchets are must better.  I’d say try the Strata if you like the Atlas..more fluid-flexing IMO.  New hardware is great too.

@DanDan: did you check your ladders already? If old - they can be chewed up and the buckle can't bite certain spots. Ladders are cheap and easy to change. I've had to change both ladders and buckles on old Unions. One time I even got it for free at an event in Whistler 🙂

Union is local to me so I try to support.

Been riding their high end carbon bindings for years, and always have *some* problems. One base cracked, and was replaced without any questions as promised in the warranty. As mentioned, have had to replace buckles & ladders, but this was just wear & tear, I think. Also, chipped the base plate on the Metafuse, and I was told that's because the metal buckle hit the carbon / plastic and that's not covered. Last year got the Ultra FC and have already broken a lean adjuster plate (not the flip toggle, but the piece under it) - no idea how this happened.

On the positive side: I do like the look and performance of the FC and I think Union is constantly working to improve all aspects of their product. I knew their team manager years ago and he was a really cool dude, too.

Stratas are my new favorite. Just slightly (very slightly) less response vs Force/Atlas for me, though noticeably more damp. I don't notice anything different in board flex on my Super8 or Moss re: minidisk vs larger binding footprint. Highbacks have a little less forward lean out of the box than Forces or Atlases, so I had to max out the forward lean adjuster on my back binding and am one click from maxed on my front binding. Heelside carves now feel perfect. I have three days on them so far in a variety of conditions (6" of fresh snow, groomers, one night with some very firm conditions). Mine are the early-release 2020 version with the upgraded ankle straps. Between these, the Force, and the Atlas, Union has a solid stable of do-everything all-mountain bindings. Only thing I would change is the forward lean adjuster. Cool and tech-y, but needlessly complicated. There were some complaints from others about the heel cups being too tight, but no issues for me on size L Stratas with size 13 SLXz and size 13 LunarEndors. Heel cup fits just like my other Unions.

I want to try a mini disc unions in the same way I want to try that new thing at the restaurant because I always get what I know I like and it seems like I'm in a rut, but I'm also pretty sure it'll be sort of unremarkable which is why every time I do that I tell myself next time I should just get what I know I already like.

Right after I made the post I was thinking if it clicks elsewhere and not in that spot it's probably the ladder considering they're so old. I'll check when I get home, thanks!

I rode my Falcors for the first time a couple weeks ago, and I didn't notice anything good or bad that I could specifically attribute to the mini-disc.  Both bindings did come loose on my first run.  Granted, it was cold as balls, and I mounted the bindings in the warmth of my home, though I did really crank them down with that in mind.  That's typically the scenario though, and I haven't had other bindings come loose, but the Falcors also didn't come loose again after I tightened them in the cold.  To be honest though, I never really notice anything terribly different among Force, Atlas, and the various T.Rice incarnations.  They all just feel good.

anyone ridden Falcors extensively this season? looking to put together a backcountry board (jumps, some switch so no fishtails really) and i love the cushion footprint style on my stratas (which i use for rails/park jumps)

Also, union now has a c3 shop for canada. however its extremely difficult to find as its not linked to their main one. its bacially c3-shop/canada. finally can order from c3. but ive had to email them directly to put some things on that shop page that were available on the main page.

Got a pair of Falcors on my Orbit 154- light weight, responsive, rock solid and the high back has enough flex that it’s not a pain. Favorite stiff binding at the moment.

Ran a couple pairs of Falcors predominantly last season (no difference from this year's or next year's for that matter) because they're light and responsive without feeling restricted. Closest thing I had found to a Genesis X, minus the board denting issues.

I am not happy with Union because they wouldn't even let me buy the more supportive straps they have this year on the Ultra FC. My FCs are from last year and are a super stiff binding with a very soft ankle strap. This year Union realized the binding needs a different strap and upgraded it. I went to the store and asked for a replacement strap set - for free or to buy. The person in the store had to ask, then gave me some bs that "They want you to use the bindings as designed, don't want you to customize them" - it's not a customization, just making things right. Union realized the design is off and need a more beefy ankle strap for this binding. When I asked for the same strap, I was advised I can buy this year's full bindings for the improved ankle straps haha 👎
