I'm curious about stance opposed to ref location, myself. I run a size 11 burton boot and was planning to do 21" just 1" back on the sK58, which suggests 2" back. Might make toe/heel drag more noticeable on the back foot since i only run +6 or so.

Cool “review” bro. A link to your blog or whatever would’ve sufficed tho

The only interesting part to me which is the footbed on the est x you just skipped through as "good matketing". Quite pointless otherwise though. Maybe pick your audience a bit better next time? A lotta noobs on sbf who would love to read all this, maybe..

we also don't need a blog post giving us all of the specs we can find on B's website.

this, again. we know what the bindings come with and how the foot ramps & est work.

just give us some photos of the differences and your on-snow feels.

eat pizza.

Had the Craig's SK 58 and decided to dump it once I got the Deep Thinker 60. I just found the DT to be a bit more aggressive. It had more spring out of turns than the SK and handled better through chop.

thats really interesting. i sold my DT160W because it felt like the exact opposite to me.
almost zero spring out of turns. only came to live at mach10 carvingwise.
i really hated carving on that thing on med and slower speed. just felt dead.

Its pretty wild the difference in opinion people have about the Deep thinker.

I have the Deep thinker 163W. I would describe it as a playful tight turning board, that for me was very fun at slower to medium speed in tight trees. Love the tail on this board, load it and boost.

@SNW_GHST what size boot are you running?

I wear size 11 Adidas Boots. On any other brand 11,5-12. My weight was about 92kilos last season.

Its really strange with the Deep Thinker. I heard quiet a few people say the same thing about it as me. But also some who say the exact opposite.

To me it just feels like it just wants to straightline and bomb down the hill. And its perfect for that.
It just doesnt engage in a turn the way i like it. It feels like it has a 10+m sidecut when u set it on edge.
From the specs i thought this would be the board i´d be riding most of the time last season. But besides pow i just didnt like it.

Maybe it was your stance location in reference to the sidecut or the width of the board. When I was in Whitefish, I spent the first day at ref, and the rest of the time I was 1/4 inch in front of ref. I just checked the B site and the 160W has a 7.6 sidecut and the 163W has a 7.8. To me, spec wish that is really tight for a 163 wide board. Not disagreeing with you at all about your experience but something is weird when a board has a sidecut like that and several people say they cant turn it. Maybe there was a production issue?

Yeah Doc also recomended to shift the bindings in front of ref. Helped a little but not a lot.
I also wrote about this on another thread. My theory is that the board has a degressive sidecut. Tight in the middle "flat" towards tip and tail. Would make sense for the kind of riding DDavis does cause its more forgiving on landings as it doesnt engage as agressively but still grips well. The downside of a degressive sidecut is that you loose that spring out of turns. Burton doesnt give any infos on their sidecuts and i guess the 7.6 is just the blend of multiple radii on the sidecut...

As an effort to be more constructive with feedback...

While I can definitely appreciate the effort in the reviews, the vast majority of us ELers (or at least those who care) already know all the information you're including. A lot of us who have been through several iterations of this website tend to not care much for verbose reviews. We're stoked that you're stoked, but we don't care about how/why you decided to acquire a product.

I'd be more interested in reading a more succinct comparison between products from your perspective, and maybe how things ride when matched with different boards/bindings. If stories and emojis are really your thing, then at the very least, it might be better to start an entirely separate thread for your reviews rather than embedding them in an existing one; it might be a better way to separate the tough crowd from those that actually care to read.

i hate to be part of the flame-crowd when it's obvious you're innocently posting up all this information cause you're stoked and excited, but AWD's right. everyone here knows ALOT about hardgoods. that's why we're here instead of SBF; the experience outweighs the noobs ten-fold. it's not that your reviews are unappreciated per se, but perhaps more on your experience and less on trivial facts. more of an editorial and less of a research paper, both content and length. you test fit a size 12 burton boot in a large burton binding designed for boots size 10 and up and were surprised it fit well? seriously? also, we can look up the baseplate material on B's website. tell us how they rode according to you; differences, similarities, pros, cons, etc. not about the colorways marbling that i'm just gonna scrape off on tree runs. if for some compulsive reason you feel the need to still type all that, start your own "craig53's official review thread", or perhaps make an unboxing video and post it on the youtubes. i know i'm kinda late to the party here but i'm not trying to be a dick, just to prevent you from getting flamed or your feelings hurt but the tactless EL trolls in the future. good on ya for being primed for [your] season though!

B used to have a hammockstrap kit you could buy that had two ankle straps with buckles, ladders, and sliders but it's not on their website anymore. they discontinue that? do you have to just call rider services and order a la carte now? TIA doods
