My buddy and I just picked up these D1 5’5”. Came across an irresistible deal on these brand new decks, so we couldn’t resist twinning. Had a chance to get a 5’5”+ instead for the same price, so hopefully I made the right call?

Nice color. Looks more special with that topsheet.

I have the 5'5"+ and in my opinion, I would rather have the Std. There's nothing really lacking with the 5'5"+ (meaning nothing you wouldn't be able to compensate or adapt to), but because the board is already longer and more stable than almost anything, a little bit of give actually makes it more fun and playful. I've kind of been gradually softening my board preferences (and actually slowing down a bit) over the yrs. so that's just me.

In your case, because you were both getting one; maybe would have been better if one of you got the + just to have the option.

By the way... whenever people talk about the Cheetah being super awesome at speed, and a mind melter...... try the Dupraz. Now THAT is a speed/freeride board.

Not to say the Cheetah ain't awesome. But it's different. I'd say the Cheetah is a finesse powder board that needs some speed to really shine; the D1 is an all out charger.

You do have to get used to the Dupraz  though (and out of it when you ride other boards). Not a big deal, but something to keep in mind.

in what way do you find you need to get used to it? i didn't spend a massive amount of time on mine but i don't recall that feeling. it actually felt pretty natural from the get-go, which i think is a sign of a well designed board. same feeling i got with the fullbad blunt diamond (god damn i need to buy one of them)

I’m with you on that one. Just slap on the bindings  with the stance recommendation and ride. Didn’t have to adjust anything, it just rode great from start.

3 things stand out:

1. Overall board length and weight. This is pretty obvious, but you definitely notice it. An equivalent board would be ~156, the 5'5" is 165. This is a big difference and it's noticeable.

2. Float. There's is almost no way of sinking this board. You can weight the front. Be careless about your weight on any powder conditions. If you ride exactly the same on most other boards, you will sink it and it feels like you have no nose.

3. Effective edge at the tail. You think you have normal or very little edge at the tail because things LOOK setback... but not really. There's a ton of edge behind your rear foot. Pretty much every other board is either twinish or considerably more setback. This is more noticeable while riding it than just from looking at it.

To me, this board is a lot easier to get used to after riding normal boards... than it is to get used out of.

my 100kg/220lbs in pow Dupraz 6'  holds good on good slope and medium and high speed, but on small slope and low speed 6' holds me not good and I want try 6'3''
