Yeah, the lib lost I had was not mag.

Yup, that's what it was. The early years of the RNF and Short Fat I believe. Not sure on the Rocket.

Well, even the Roxy XOXO (Torah Bright's plaything) only got upgraded to mtx this season.

I'm wondering: is that a good thing or a bad thing?

The Rocket still doesn't have mag - and it's great. When I rode the Gnu Swallowtail Carver (mag) and the Lib Round Nose Fish (no mag) back to back I noticed the difference. There's a difference (mag is more trench-y, no mag is more ginsu knife-y) but it doesn't make or break the day for me. I just adapt.

Thinking back I recall when my primary ride was C2Btx and then riding anything without mag felt a bit slippery. But now that I ride primarily no-mag, when I ride anything with that style of edge it feels like it bites the snow.

I mean... for the intended purpose it does it, and for the majority of casual riders I think it's actually a benefit. But for a real carving board it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I guess whatever you get use to sort of becomes your preference.

I think the best application of mag is for park kids who ride in hard conditions regularly.  They can de-tune the shit out of their edges and still get some grip on hardpack.  It is also good for folks who will never maintain their edges, which is a lot of people.  I think it's a detriment in every other application.

Love magnetration in all its variations. Does well what it is supposed to do (noticeably improve edge hold in sketchy conditions) without any downsides (unless you could slightly more troublesome edge maintenance).

I could swear they advertised the 2019 xoxo with mtx, whereas on the 2018 reviewers criticised the lack thereof..

Maybe I'm just confused now, because I compared soooo many different boards for my better half..

(could it be the banana smoothie that only just now got mtx?)

T-Rice & his "dream board" Orca. Though have a feeling he's said that about every single one of his pro models 😐. And "whale tail"?

i mean what else is he guna say? its part of his job to talk about the boards like that. but what board out there would perform poorly in those kind of conditions

also, that run after he talks about the orca. holy shit. what dreams are made of. can't wait till i can afford to get up to BC

pretty sure it’s referring to the kick of the tail.
