Don't like the sound of 7m sidecut for carving. Weaving through trees yes, carves no.

People do eurocarves on freestyle boards with -15/15 duckstance... Doesn't mean that's the best ever setup for carving...

I've seen Nico Müller on the Fish in a pipe.. Doesn't mean you should bring a fish to the Olympic winter games 😀

Re mastering:

The speaker is superbly designed but doesn't sound empty and dead like studio monitors. although, my Yamaha HS active speakers are great fun on the work desk, I never liked Genelec..

A friend had great sounding Adam monitors in a sound proofed HT/studio (isolated down to roughly 15dB, with a double bass array linearly providing 100dB(C) down to 20Hz.. Audio boner alarm!!)

audiophiling on the internet is beyond any snowboard design internetting, ever.

I'll quit while we are behind.

but... the whole sidecut debate hurts my brain, or the part of people looking at a board with a too small of a radius and writing it off "i'll never ride that"... drives me a little crazy

I'll definitely ride a 7m sidecut board, but I can be pretty sure I'd prefer something bigger. I like tight sidecuts for carving complete turns on steep crowded slopes, but I find as soon as I want to create longer turns on flatter slopes, the board is holding me back. It wants to turn sooner than I do.

I'd double like after the edit, but yeah I just bought a once ridden nitro woodcarver for 200, won't be able to ride it this season but that thing's tight as a mofo. We'll see if it's too much, but don't have really any preconceptions.

That feeling is usually mitigated by just a bit of early rise. Tight full camber ones definitely do if the sidecut is not progressive in some way.

Yeah not too many around here have been on one. 8+ mafia has influence!

Agreed, I think next year's looks the best. If the Diablo's degressive sidecut (4something in the middle to 7something if I remember right) is any indication, it's going to rip. The diablo just grabs and doesn't let go. You can mellow it out or just tweak and have it launch out of especially heelside turns. I've never had as much fun just steering a board and manipulating it through turns. Said this already but that heelside feels wack at super high speeds though. Feels like it drags, which makes sense.

Took the 159 Orca out during this recent PNW storm. To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about it just yet. It took me awhile to get used to how it turns. I'm used to a more mellow sidecut so it felt like I grabbed a shopping cart with a busted wheel that just wanted to turn hard left or right really aggressively. It made me want to increase my forward binding angle too, which is strange, I usually ride the same for everything.

It floated pretty well, and was very maneuverable in soft snow, but the snow here is much lighter than it usually is, so we'll see how it does in the wet stuff.

On my way home I stopped into Steven's Pass Snowboard shop to see what they had, and the guy working there jokingly asked if I was looking for an Orca. Apparently 6 people called that day looking for one. Right now I'm thinking those 6 people should just get a Warpig and save some money, but I'm going to ride it more and see if my feeling changes. It looks great, and it slides on snow but I'm not sure if it improves the experience for me over the boards I already have.

I'm leaning towards the warpig or a few other things. As much as the Orca seems like something I'd like to ride... I'm not going to go full beanie baby.
