Recently I've been riding both the FA and SD with a size 9 Ions, and no issues for me.  +21 /  -5.  The Skeleton Key 54 does have my ideal ww though.

Thanks for review Payaso. I’ll demo this if I can but the 5-2 Japan is the last deck I really loved from B. Haven’t been impressed with much since then.

Wanna demo a deep thinker too

Is the Speed Date the new official board for EZ?

Not with that nose width 😉

Not with that waist width it isn't.

definitely too narrow for my liking. Same WW as the Flight Attendant and that was too narrow for me with a size 8.5

Me on the other hand i prefer narrow ww. I am annoyed by the somehow more slow transition on wider ww boards.

I can see that for sure. My ideal ww is 256-260 depending on the board and paired with the right taper/sidecut they can be pretty nimble. Main gripe when I had a FA was either toe drag or ladder drag while getting more on edge. 0 degree back foot probably didn't help. It was super fast edge to edge and lively, just didn't fit my personal style is all. As a banked slalom/fast ripper I bet the speed date kills it

The more i hear about this board, it sounds like Burton finally released the carving board i was looking to have for a while. Can't wait to put my hands on one.

As much as I liked it, I still felt that the FA 159 was too narrow for my 9.5 SLXs. I'm in a more comfy zone with a ww of 25.4-25.7. My favourite decks in the last four years have been the DeepThinker 160 and the LandLord 163, both at a 25.5ww.

Debating between the Speed Date 161 or just jumping off the B train altogether and getting next year's Iguchi 162 camber.

Honestly this talk about booting out makes me question my riding. With the exception of the mod all my board were around the 250 region. And i have a 0 back foot angle. Weirdly enough the only board i managed to boot out was the skipjack (260ww) on a mashed potatoes day (dug on a heelside turn). I don't ryan knapton my turns obviously but again i never noticed any kind of drag even when i turn hard.

I'm in a 9.5, 20" width (I know..), at +15, 0.  Depending on WW and sidecut, most boards 250mm WW and below I end up digging in on a lot of turns.  Sucks.

Im guessing ppl that complaining about the WW, having narrow stand with big boot size… im wearing 9.5 Ions (with 22.5"-23" & 21\-3), riding 248mm-252mm WW boards and never had a problem.

Back on topic -

Yesterday i was passing by the B shop in Innsbruck, went inside to get the Speed Date, but looks like its only US and Japan late release (at least thats what one of the workers told me), so i'll have to wait till next season to put my hands on one…

Ridden in pow (50+cm) it does fine. Hence the word "snow" before "board". I feel like it has a bit more float then my BM. On the BF and it floats like crazy
