I want to go back to Utah, but the boys want to go to Colorado for a trip this coming season.  I know it’s going to be $$$, just looking for advice and reasonable lodging?

will you be limited to ikon vs epic? you could avoid crowds and (maybe) save some $ if you went to crested butte

Passes won’t be too much of a concern, I think I’ll be able to manage to get hook ups at Breck, Copper, and Keystone.

@parker I wanted to go back to Utah, hopefully moving there this time 2019.

From your list - copper for best overall terrain/lack of lines...breck is a windy flat shit show that is the busiest resort in co.  CO is now crowded on weekdays.  Keystone - just no. No..NO for too many reason to list.

If doing front range i70 - a basin,  vail or beav.

Otherwise Wolf creek or crested butte.

Less lines - CB, Beav, A basin.

Highest chance of riding pow all day - wolf

Best chance of banging hot Euro princess - vail =any of the clubs in vail village after 9pm

Steamboat might be worth a look too. It's far enough away from I-70 to miss the Denver crowds.

It shouldn't be too hard.

CO: much flatter, more people, less snow, more expensive, farther drives, WAY longer lift lines

UT: steeper, less people, more snow, less expensive, all resorts within 1 hour of airport, WAY shorter lift lines

You'll be fine at copper, wolf, CB, steamboat and a basin can be really really good during the week.

Copper especially is rarely a shit storm + the layout terrain is set up so certain areas of the mountain are all black runs(skiers right side of mountain), and separated far from beginner/green areas(skier left)...Blue center of mountain so you don't get any of the awkward situations where you're hauling ass around falling leafers funneling into the main area of the resort(I'm talking to you keystone - "river run" = best place to get T boned/Fubared in CO)

Also, I shouldn't have been so hard on keystone, there is some good stuff in bound hike to + cat rides in the outback area -- Puma bowl I think..it's been a few years since I lived in Denver.

Utah will have less lines BUT also less shit to do at night.. Depends on who you're with. My GF loves fucking vail because all the high end  places to eat/drink...Vail btw is fucking incredible if you know where to go to avoid the crowds...Super long runs and backcountry style terrain on the backside -- Outer mongolia..lovers leap in Blue sky basin etc..

Is Eldora still a relatively undercover spot, or is it super lame and crowded now? Looks like it is part of the Ikon dealie.

I'm SUPER worried it'll get crowded this year due to ikon and people hoping to avoid I70 traffic. I only live 35 miles from it so it's my best chance at a decent season with the baby in the picture now. Opening tomorrow. Hoping for the best! Think I'm guna hit it up next Saturday for day numerous uno

Mike - if storms are sitting east of the divide Monarch is a fucking hidden GEM. Super small, but less than 0 lines. Plenty of rad terrain to find. Could hit it up on the way to crested Butte

go to utah

/thread

riding>night life (at least for me on a snowboard trip). unless you really wanna bang glow-in-the-dark mormon chicks, save the partying for home. not to say i don't like to do my fair share of partying/clubbing/drinking my ass off, but i'd rather more focus on riding after paying the money to travel to ride. when my friend, gf, and i went to whistler, we never really left the condo except to go grocery shopping/buy beer and liquor. part of me kinda wishes we would have checked out the village night life at least one night, the other part of me is glad we had good meals and got plenty of sleep cause the weather was on point the three days we rode; fresh snow day one, refills day two, cloudy that turned into bluebird day three.

Quick divergence of the topic, Do I need snow tire to drive in CO?

Booked a trip on Mid Dec with a compact car rental and start to worry about the road condition as CO has been hit with big dumps. Need to drive from airport to Dillion as well as from Dillion to Breckenridge/Keystone.
