Non-Snowboard Vacation Thread
Girlfriend wants to go to Japan on her month off and I've been tracking flights - found some round trip with no stops for $850/ea. So we're going in March. Haven't planned much else yet - any must-go-to places? Buying rail passes today and going to try to stay as many places as we can. Only 8 full days in Japan.
Bought a new Kamp-Rite folding tent too, only got to use it once so far but I am liking it. Found it on sale on Target's website awhile back. I think we'll do a bit more camping next summer and maybe some bikepacking since she loves her bike now haha.
Non-snowboard? Maaaan, I feel bad for you. Ok, maybe not the best time of year for it, but still..
Japan is rad even if you're not going in the winter. Matty gave a good run down of shit to do in the Always Thinking about Ja-POW thread. I spent most of my last trip hanging out with my daughter in resale shops in Harajuku/Shibuya areas of Tokyo.
If you have rail passes, try to get around to other places outside of Tokyo (though Tokyo is amazing and HUGE). Kyoto and Nara are rad. Very different from Tokyo and connected to Japan's feudal history. The wild deer wandering around Nara are dope, as is the giant wooden temple housing the giant buddha. The Fushimi Inari shrine in Kyoto is also amazing. The thousands and thousands of orange gates arching over the trails up into the hills of the shrine complex are quite an experience to wander through.
Japan is high on the list of vacations, would love to squeeze some snowboardz playtimez in to.
I'll be in Las Vegas first weekend of December, anyone got hotel recs?
