I got an email this morning saying I was denied. Seriously, who sends an email the morning of an event denying an RSVP made over a week ago? I told them to fuck off and not to spam me with shit marketing emails in the future, but you know they will.

well, i didn't receive an email yesterday or today, so i suppose no news is good news? hopefully no one received an email for the Seattle premiere like the Portland one. never been to the Ark Lodge theater, but i hope it's easy to sneak in beer. see you giggledicks there!

p.s. find me and i'll give you a beer (assuming i'm able to sneak it in). gonna wear a black hoody and a teal/hunter green vest over it (to hide aforementioned beer). also, two braids, if we've never met in person.

Were you able to get in? I got the SLC premiere coming up Thurs.

Got in no problem. They had two theaters reserved, and they ended up moving all of us who wanted into the "VIP" theater where the free beer was. The place went especially bonkers when Jacob Krugmire's opening part in Beta came on the screen. I gave props to Pat Bridges for the music in the movie, which he chose and licensed.

For some reason, only Beta and Kamikazu played. The Future of Yesterday didn't. Both movies were good and had some ridiculous riding, but Kamikazu was the standout for me.

We were sitting behind you at one point. I was the big tall dude in a black Union Bindings baseball cap.

oh dang. i was wondering if i'd see you there or not. i did see a volvo with a bunch of snowboard stickers and a greyhound die cut parked on the street, so i knew you were lurking somewhere. lol

you should have said "hey," i had a six pack of rainier tallies tucked under my hoodie. 😇

although, if you got into vip with free beer, that sounds better. i heard all they had was miller and coors, despite the 10 barrel cups being used. (in all fairness, i wouldn't drink any of it, free or not - even 10 barrel)

@jerklin you should have showed up anyways. laura and i went, and even though we both rsvp'd, they asked for my name but she just walked in with me. they didn't ask her for her name or say anything to her. there were plenty of seats that i saw too (at least 15-20).

beta wasn't really my thing. solid riding, but for some reason i just didn't get into it. kamikazu was good - more what i'm into in a shred movie. to me, it wasn't on the level that "Stronger" was, but i feel like i should give it another watch or two before i make that final determination. i wonder why they didn't play "the future of yesterday?" i remembered there were supposed to be three movies about an hour after the premiere was over.

@slim253 Good to know for next time.

I went to C3 last Thursday and they were playing The Future of Yesterday. What a great movie. Insane riding in beautiful places where everyone looks like they're having a blast together.

Apparently C3's gonna be doing shred movies a few more Thursdays this fall. Super cool!

@slim253 that was definitely my car. I can also confirm that they were only pouring budweiser and coors light upstairs, but whatever. It was free! I drank a couple of them.

I agree that beta wasn't really my thing. Stoked for it, though. Glad that young riders are getting video parts in a movie that's doing a big tour like that.

What are the next premiers?

The Uninvited looks so good and I'm mad there's no Portland show. The Absinthe premiere for Portland is tonight, I want to go but am currently unsure how I'd get home after as I didn't drive to work & I don't think I'll have time to ride the bus home and then get back to the theater.

Absinthe movie was cool. Rider after rider in moments I dream about tied together by Pysch-rock and African funk, except for Nicolas Muller who broke things up with some Lee Scratch Perry. The standout part for me was Jed Sky who rides like he is effortlessly speed running a super mario lava level.

Uninvited @ C3 was great. Jess Kimura's message to women to get out there and take the spotlight is awesome and it's a special thing to live in a place where events like these happen.

We also won a raffle at C3, which was pretty sweet, so my girlfriend is getting a new Capita + Union setup. I haven't ridden Capita and I don't know much about their boards so any recommendations would be appreciated. She's currently on an older hand me down Burton Feather so I figure anything will be a step up. I'm thinking the Paradise or maybe even a Slush Slasher would be fun for her?

That's awesome! I have heard from friends who ride it that both the Capita and Union women's stuff is solid. If your girlfriend wants a pow deck, there are 147 and 151 sizes of the Navigator. Might be more versatile than the Slush slasher.

Thanks Matty. The navigator is a good option I didn't consider! I actually want to try and demo the 164 this year myself.

She ended up settling on the Paradise with green Union Legacy's. I think they are going to look pretty sick on the Henri Rousseau jungle graphic.

congrats on winning the raffle, btw. we saw you go up there, but couldn't find you at the end of the event. that's a solid board choice for her, seeing how she rode when we met up at hood. laura rides a space metal and likes it a lot, but i bought that for a low tide/hood board cause it has an extruded base. the paradise is a step up with a sintered base so that should work out great. i also have a pair of legacy binders she rides on another board and she likes them too. no complaints on foot pains like i have with forces. that setup should allow her to have that much more fun this season for sure.

side note: i got jess to sign my wall hanger that's her pro model, so that was cool. 😏
