• If someone had a new in plastic 2011 StepChild Headless Horseman in a 157 (preferably black base to complement the yellow base of my 54), a new in plastic 2011 Burton Love 157w or a new in plastic 2013 Capita Charlie in a 164 (plus a shit load of Forum boards) I can imagine the prices I’d go to in order to get them.

Same with first editions of my…[Read more]

  • The seller is entitled to ask whatever they wish to sell items for, which is a no brainer, and if we all think it’s too much or too much for what you want then we don’t pay.  There are things that we’d all spend silly money on, that others may not, and no difference here.

I’d imagine the stonehut being truly limited, along with the paraphernalia…[Read more]

I may be in a minority, but that Felt bike looks gash, and it’s not really suited to the type of coast we have:

Thanks for the Salsa rec but unfortunately they are not sold here, or at least that particular model isn’t easily found.

Thanks, Not Mike, but Raleigh doesn’t stock many bikes in the UK anymore and the Tokul’s are not available here at all.

The Norco’s are now all sold out across the UK, since they are only sold by one chain store (Evans Cycles) and so I may wait for the 2018 edition to come out.

  • Like a lot of you, I can find gold on the later pages in Google searches due to independent shops across the EU not necessarily maximising their SEO, but maybe they don’t have to because they can sell through Amazon or eBay without having to deal with any changes to algorithms.

My local shop (if one 40 miles away in Manchester is local) is…[Read more]

Interesting that they say the Deep Thinker is towards the stiffer end of the scale when some hands on reviews elsewhere seemed to put it on the softer side. Sidecut is also within what I like and a bit of taper is making me think of continuing with my pre-order with the shop rather than binning it off completely, even though I don’t actually…[Read more]

The nose kick on the last Charlie is noticeably lower/less steep or abrupt than my 2013 58 one.  I’m glad I picked a 64 up from the final year, but I wonder why the kick was changed?

  • Yes, it should.  They should sell wherever the market is.

Bricks and mortar shops are dying on their arses due to a significant shift in spending habits and, in the UK at least, reduced disposable income (fall in real wages arising from a near decade of ‘austerity’ measures).

Online shopping is emptying shops in parades, village centres, town…[Read more]

  • Couple of boards being considered by Douk – an English board shaper/manufacturer/whatever – the first is a ind standard powder shape and the second is the now required short and wide (up to size 15US) board, but no other specs yet on either:

Got a soft spot for Cannondale’s, which is why the next purchase is likely to be one of their Cujos or a Beasts. Saying that for a fattie-ish bike I’ve been recommended the Norco Fluid 7.2 HT+ but it’s a bugger to find in the UK.

Was considering a full on fat bike – i’m right next to beaches and dunes – but plus tyres on a trail bike would get…[Read more]

  • I’m not normally one to criticise what you wear or what you ride but I make an exception for Ruroc, which is seeminly universally despised by anyone with more than a passing interest in snowboarding.  Looks like they are paying Max Parrot a lot of money (or whatever constitutes a lot of money nowadays) to promote their helmets and their claims…[Read more]

  • If you want the mini, just pay full price, non?

While not yet released, if anyone could scan the specs list at the back of the Burton catalogue that would be appreciated. Ta.

  • K2 had a big support in the euro dome scene and in resorts, as they can sponsor/subsidise parks, pipes and events without having to distinguish between snowboarding and skiing.

A good few years ago K2’s Parkstar was the board in UK domes and seen on the feet of a large number of resort riders.  It had a reputation as being solid, wide variety of…[Read more]

Well, we have fixed camera spots and average speed cameras on motorways (mainly when there are road works going on) but with the drop in policing numbers speed traps seem to be much less frequent, plus the standard B-road outside of towns can be good fun at the right times.

Cornering speed plus some oversteer is where I got, and many car…[Read more]

It may be a stupid think to say, but don’t you have enough power & torque with the SQ5? What advantages are there to chipping that other than additional power that you can’t use on public roads (not that you could use most of it at the moment)?

I have a chipped diesel golf, which was done so for improved fuel economy and better emissions rather…[Read more]

Reading back through my comment I think it may only be snowboarding where I buy into what the company’s views are on a product.  Elsewhere my view would be “well of course they’d say that, but I’ll wait for some independent reviews” but here my response is “well if Knut says so then it must be true.”

For the price of that Open bike, ltm could do a season in Japan!

From what he is saying it seems like a cyclocross or hybrid bike is in your wheel house, one that could accommodate wide knobbly tyres if needs be.

Had a look at the cannondale track bike and the price was kind of a shock.  Over a grand for that? Eeeesh.

I’ve not been persuaded of the merits of a fixie so maybe the price isn’t too bad for one of them but you could pick up one of the versions of cannondale’s bad boy for much less than that, which would probably do the job for you for much…[Read more]
