I decided to preorder the XY.   I haven’t had any chance to demo Gentemstick so I have no idea if I’m making a big expensive mistake.

Gentemstick’s board explanations are puzzling. Thank God they give numbers on stuff. But their description of the XY includes stuff like “The intention of the XY was to blend the masculine with the feminine. . . . A board that can smile at the devil, glide smoothly at high speeds and gently caress every curve of the mountain.”  I’d like to see…[Read more]

The XY is a 157 vs the 155 of the Stingray and is wider with more camber but has similar setback, taper and radius to the Stingray.  So giant is relative to how Gentem refers to versions of the Mantaray.

I’m looking to preorder a 2018 Gentem to try out even though I’ve had no chance to demo one.  I’d like it to be versatile enough to be good carving in the groomers because I get so few true powder days on the East Coast. I was thinking about the new Chaser High Performance (a narrower chaser but still really tapered) and the XY (the Yoder pro…[Read more]

  • I’m trying out a pair of my Union Chargers with Burton X Base asym ankle straps and Cartel toe caps.  The Burton straps are definitely more comfortable than the Union ones when cranked down but I feel like the Union straps have a little less give and as such feel just a bit more responsive.

  • I don’t think it’s that stiff.  It’ more a 7.5 or maybe 8.  It’s not as stiff as my NS Chairman.  It has a true traditional camber profile with a good amount of camber rise but I can’t remember the measurement.  It’s really light and the base is super fast.  Imagine a Custom X that’s more lively.  The quality seems good and it’s held up to my ri…[Read more]

  • I had a Never Summer Mountainslayer 159 that a bought from Gallatin.  It’s the only traditional camber board in the NS lineup but only done for World Boards and Gallatin.  It’s traditional camber (about 7mm rise) with slightly extended contact points.  It’s mid stiff but torsionally pretty soft.  It also has that really damp NS feel.  I ended up g…[Read more]
