I hear you. I have faded on those shapes too in recent years. But one thing I miss is that they are better for jumping.

Most interesting new thing for me this year was the Deep Daze. Extremely fun on several inches of Cascade powder and / or mashed potatoes. Different story for hard snow + steeps but it wasn't made for these. bigger pow days I'd still pick my 3D Fish 161.

let me know how you like the split! i was supposed to take one on a photo mission this spring, but we lost our snow.

fyi, IPP Pete is now running the CHX program, so there could be some good things coming from that branch.

Don't know why I still buy twin boards, but I always had a soft spot for the Ultimate Ride... I wanted to try it.

Very curious about how it rides, and how it is the base. It should be the best quality base I've ever been on.

Mounted as directional as I could, with my usual narrow stance (20-20.5 inches), pushed back as much as I can the Stratas, it should be between half and 1 inch setback. Positive angles, of course.

Hopefully in the next few weeks I'm going to try it (on the glacier)

I don't like the width (too wide) and the sidecut (too tight) on the new one, the old one is perfect spec-wise for me (it's a 153, a little bit more than 250 waist width, and more than 8 meter sidecut)

The new one, on the other side, has some taper, and should have some setback

I hate that Salomon doesn’t list the side cuts in the catalog, I see they have it in the graphic on their site, though.

the 161 is a nice 8.1m, but I see they get realll tight on the smaller sizes.

seeing that sidecut now, it’s pretty similar spec to my Annex, just wider and a touch less taper, and the 158 is close to the US Horizon.

back to the quiver drawing board.

yeah, that is annoying.  the website graphics (for canada at least) are pretty good but it's shitty that's the only place to find it.

I’m entering that point in the offseason where I feel like I need a new board, but I really don’t this time. Anyone have a pencil 64 for free?

@yukiotokosama and @Vanni

Congratz on the picks guys.

The Suprateam 162 got my daily spot for the last part of the season. Great one board quiver that carves, spins and pops hard and even floats reasonably well. Ultralight, feels lighter than my Capitas. The only thing I don’t like that much is this tight progressive part of the sidecut at the tail, 9,2 simple radial would be perfect for me.

The UR 161 is new but got a chance to hop on the 161 I borrowed from a friend of a friend. I had to grab this one after that. The amount of pop from the carves is truly scary at first. Carves like a dream (no true twin carves like that) and grips really hard including ice (really looked for icy windblown spots to test if the sidecut is indeed ‘obnoxious’ on ice before commiting to buying myself). Just keep the edge sharp because for whatever dumb reason Salomon detunes the whole edge (that new UR is dull af, same case with the Assasin Pro I also got brand new). I’d only add 5-6 mm in the width (9,5 US Tactical, 275 mm at the back insert is the optimal width for me). I like the width of the new version of the UR but that tight sidecut is a deal breaker for me.

Both are keepers for me.

Thanks for the info. I like a deeper sidecut overall, so the 9.2 is a bit of a concern. You never know until you ride it though. I had the first year UR in a 161 and liked it other than the super fragile topsheet.

Curious on your take between the Suprateam and the Assassin Pro? I've had my eye on the Assassin Pro for years and in fact almost bought one over the Suprateam.
