There are a first year XY and a Chaser HP both nos, 800€ each at SBTE on FB now.
Anyone ever ride an xy? Curious as to how soft/stiff it is
I messaged the seller

@yukiotokosama is the only person I know to have ridden one. He's got solid thoughts on it compared to a Giant Manta. I could summarize what I remember him saying if he doesn't see this

It was definitely the most relaxed Gentem I rode. Bigger sidecut and slightly softer than the Giant Manta. @Supra owns one so I'm sure he's got a better take.

@unsatisfiedus has some thoughts on previous page of the thread.
I demoed an XY a few years ago at an evo/Gentem demo at Alpental. It's one of the wider boards in the lineup, and Yoder was there and recommended that I try it after I rode the FlyFisk, the Barracuda, and the Giant Mantaray. The XY felt the most "normal" of any of the Gentems or Mosses that I have tried. There wasn't anything for me that felt all that special about the board or justified the price. It felt like I could get the same riding experience from a more mainstream board at half the $$$
I had an XY for a couple of years but recently sold it. It's got a really understated creamy ride and is beautiful to look at (at least the first or second years). I found it too wide for banked slaloms and the pow float wasn't anything amazing. If I look back at my gopro vids you can see the blunt nose not staying above the snow, however it's nothing that I actually noticed in real time. The biggest reason I had for selling it was the price, and the fragility of the topsheet. It's really easy to chip the edges of the topsheet, and looking at it sideways leaves scratches too. I enjoyed my time on it, but as Matty says, it's totally possible to get the same (or better!) riding experience for a lot less $$$.

Creamy?
not that creamy!
really smooth. not dead, but not much feedback.
There isn't a Nitro Squash quite big enough for what I like, but I wonder how many people would feel as good or better on that vs the XY.

This years 163 wide still too small?

That 163 is now wide enough at a 268 waist, but I would still prefer even a little bit wider and definitely a bit longer. Admittedly, the Big Gulp I just bought is not significantly bigger (one cm longer and a few mm wider) - but I got the Big Gulp for super cheap. If I could get a similarly discounted Squash, I might add that 163 wide to the quiver. Not at full price, though.
Soooo dumb question here. Does Gentem do 3d shaping? My new to me Hornet sure suggests that they do, despite me not seeing any reference to anything like that ever. It seems to keep it's boat hull shape the whole way down through to the tail. Has anybody else ever seen anything like this?
My thoughts are:
a) this is the quality control on a $1000 USD board?!
b) I got a knockoff
