yeah, in fear of Adidas going away, I bought another pair of Tacticals and Acerra ADVs (not sure why, never liked boa)

just impulsed bought some K2 TTs, curious what soft boots feel like in the spring slush, been into trying to be more 'surfy'

so that's 3 pairs of boots I bought this year when my Tacticals from 2 seasons ago are still doing just fine

got to demo/check out some 22 things today

biggest surprise of the day was the Excavator. to my surprise, not just a Dancehaul clone. good bit snappier, stiffer torsional flex, and more set back.

You're the second person I've heard say this. I got to demo a dancehaul 147 and I was getting bucked around too much on it being too soft for me I think. I was hoping the Excavator was gonna be more stiff but similar. It's down to Excavator/SuprPig/Dancehaul 152/Arbor Single for me next year. Hard to pick.

I'd only go Single if you're just looking for pow, and the SuperPig if you just wanna charge fast. Excavator might be slightly more pow friendly, while the DH is more freestyle friendly.

have you been on the single?  or at least seen the full specs?  looks sexy.

My buddy just picked up a Dancehaul 152. Strapped into it on snow and played around with the flex. It is soooft. Didn't bother taking a lap on it.

Looks like an early release of that Arbor Single. WW is way wider than I was expecting. Don't need another short/mid fat, so scratch that one from the list...

not that familiar with arbor products.  what's going on with the edges/sidecut here?  are there two distinct bumps along the side with the three sidecut numbers describing the radius between them?

yup, GripTech they call it, just like you described. basically they don’t blend the area where the two side cuts meet, making a little bump under the feet.

Goes to show why trying on a bunch of boots is necessary. Adidas Tactical are my top (or tied with old SLX) boots I have ever ridden. Comfort, flex, performance, etc.

Ditto. By far the best boots I've ever ridden. Only real complaint is they don't tour very well on my splitboard, I can feel the resistance on the back of strides compared to my K2 Aspects, to the point I worry about killing them up with negative flex. But they fit me SO much better than the Aspects (or any other boots I've ever owned).

Third that. Need to stop saying it and actually stock up. If Adidas really exits the industry, I'm gonna be really bummed...

No 4. Bought a pair of Acerras as backup when my Tacticals die but they seem to last forever. Really like those Lexicons in grey thou...

Burton wides works, still like the Adidas better with Boost sole.

How’s the Acerra fit compared to Tacticals? My Lexicons are getting warrantied and I may go Acerra. I hate boa but I occasionally find myself wanting more stiffness out of my boots.

Grabbed 3 extra pairs of Adidas on sale before it was announced they carry over the lineup. 9,5 US Accera feels stiffer and 1-2 mm larger inside (I have 27,8 cm right foot, 27,5 cm left one). Looks like 1-2 mm shorter in the outershell. But I don’t like BoA so haven’t bothered riding the Acerra much as of yet. Don’t know how much they pack out compared to the Tactical.

Really close to pulling the trigger on a pair of Acerras, but I've been reading that they run slightly big and should go half size down. Can anyone confirm?

Can’t speak to Acerras specifically, but vast majority of folks I’ve spoken to have sized down half a size in Adidas.

I’m a 10.5 in damn near everything (measure out about a 10.25EEE) and I wear size 10 in both Tactical Adv and Tactical Lexicon.

Also, to mirror what other folks have said... I purchased a backup set of Adidas Tacticals in anticipating that Adidas would drop snowboarding.

Turns out I needed the backups. I wrecked the tongue of my Tactical Lexicons and had to send them in for warranty after about 40 days on snow... thankfully I already had the same size Tactical Advs ready to go. Just popped the liners out of my Lexicons and threw them into the Tacticals. Basically no boot break in, maybe half a day compared to the usual 3-5 days. Think I'm definitely going to take that route in the future, breaking in new boots sucks-- breaking in boots with used liners sucks less.

I was trying to rush through my warranty because of the fear that Adidas boot would be gone forever, but knowing they'll be around for Terrex, I've slowed my roll on that front.

that seems to be the general trend with adidas, but i had the opposite experience.  i i'm in 11.5 ions and my toes were curled at the end of 11.5 acerras. needed at least a .5 size up.  seemed like solid boots though and pretty stiff, which i like.  i ordered directly from adidas and they have an easy return process, would suggest doing that if you can.

Thanks everyone. I'm usually 8.5 in everything but adidas shoes, where I'm an 8. I skate in adidas sz 8s which I love that they fit so perfect like a sock.

Looking for a freeride/all mtn boot that's stiffer than my current moto boas and SO ruler boas. So I was curious about the Acerras or Lexicons.

@spanyard

I think the Lexicons are the looser flexing freestyle version of the Tactical ADVs, so I'd go with the latter if you want a stiffer boot. Having the Acerras on me, they seem even stiffer than the Tacticals.

in all honesty, I am not sure why Adidas makes both the Tacticals and Lexicons when the differences between the two are so subtle

They net out about the same IMO. The materials on the Lexicon are slightly softer, but they don't have a full articulating cuff, it's half stitched so less natural ankle articulation. The Tactical Advs flexed a touch softer out of box, but feel roughly as responsive 5-6 days in.

They feel slightly different, but I would say are roughly in the same ballpark flex wise. Maybe the Lexicon is a TOUCH stiffer out-- again they felt about the same, but I had 40 days on those compared to the relatively new Tactical Adv shell.

Of course Adidas doesn't explain any of this for jack shit and you'd never be able to tell them apart from the marketing copy. I agree, I have no idea why Adidas makes both when they're so very similar, with a terribly fucking confusing naming conventions to boot (officially "Tactical Adv" and "Tactical Lexicon Adv").

Both are definitely stiffer than Motos, not sure about Rulers.

@spanyard if a Burton boot fits you well, stick with it. The Ion is as stiff as it gets unless you go driver x which is actually insane, and you might as well wear a ski boot 🤣.

interesting.  actually my kid had the helix last year and now noticing the same thing on that one.  never really paid attention, just bought it because it was cheap.

just rode my first board with some kind of edge thing (Yes Y).  overall worked great, and maybe this was all in my head, but i could swear i felt a subtle yawing motion when it was on edge.

Bataleon being Bataleon, that board is different.

Meanwhile, I'm just waiting patiently for the Volcom catalog to drop.
