@bopuc

I'd grab it - for me or my daughter, depending on size. Let me know if you decide to pass 🙂

What's the take on the old round tail / 3D insert Fish? As good as what came after? A worthy ride?

Looking at a reddish one ("over printed cherry wood", base graphic "moon as seen from under water"), 160… Seems to be a 2005.

I understand this is pre-S-Camber? What profile did it have? Full camber? Rocker?

The fish from 2002 -2008 was full, regular camber & same shape. They are stiffer than the later models, and they rip. Honestly a really good ride. I highly suggest setting the stance forward on them, they really feel slammed to the back and don’t ride super well at reference, in my opinion.

I have both 160s from 2008, I ride the white one, and the black one is actually brand new in the bag. I had the 2008 red 156 for a while too, but decided to sell it to a friend. These were all my fishes last year.

@spenser

Thanks Spencer. Was hoping you'd chime in. I just paypal'ed the guy. It's a 2005 160, never ridden… for the equivalent of $180USD, shipped.

(After swearing off Burton 2 years ago, I am packing a 2019 Moonbuggy 168, a 1997 Supermodel 163 and a 2005 Fish 160 for my season in Japan this year. There it will join a 2017 Barracuda 161. Shit, I guess I have a Burton Collection now…)

Nice score!

I find them to have a classic powerful feeling that the newer ones don’t quite have. There’s just something about full camber on that shape

Well, here it is. I didn't want to believe it until I unpacked it but sure enough NOS 2005 160 Fish. 170€ shipped.

Never ridden, but has a bit of binding rash from having been mounted. Some storage knicks, and a dry base. Gonna go get that ground asap.

What a beaut! Nose 31.4cm / Waist 25.5cm / Tail 28.3cm… 11m camber!

I thought we knew that and gave up on a cambered fish a little while ago. I can’t see them ever using that shape in a cambered profile, just doesn’t feel like something they would do

Given the point of the fish, I’m not surprised they are still running it flat, especially with the addition of 3D. I don’t know that they will ever give us what we want, the same floaty fish that also aggressively rips groomers like the old ones...

I’ll continue hoarding old fishes and Jeep XJs

Agreed. B has this positioned as a proper/pure pow stick and that's unlikely to change anytime soon - in fact 3D base is another step in that direction.

Bataleon kind of proved that 3d stuff on the base isn't the greatest idea though. After the whole rocker craze we know what works or not in pow/groomers/park/wherever.

I don't think the base of the Fish is 3D, probably only the nose and tail (like the Kilroy 3D). And I'll keep hoping for a camber fish, 3D or not. Moss PQ does have 3D-type nose and tail and camber so maybe Burton can do one, too 👍
