So I tried medium Burton Clutch straps on my medium Brigades today, they felt painful compared to Sievas, I couldn't get them to sit high enough on the boot. Are people using small Burton straps on medium Nows? Maybe it's just my foot, I know I have an unusual instep.

Yes, I wear SZ 10 boots and use mens small Burton Hammock Straps. Works perfect for me.

I tried a pair of small hammock straps from @pow_hnd but ended up still liking medium for my size 9 Burton boots. I do have them on the second shortest hole, though, but I think most people would probably be on the third. The smaller-size benefit is totally there with NOWs, I guess I just like slightly more coverage.

I’m trying out my old flux straps again this week… they’re padded but slightly thinner, flat, and wide, really good hold, buckles aren’t great, but they secure my boot a little more than hammocks, although I could go either way. A little more lateral support too.

I'm a size 10 Adidas and have tried both medium and small B Hammockstraps with medium hanger 2.0 baseplates. I prefer the small strap but still use the medium strap... was too lazy to source a second set of smalls. You get a bit more lateral freedom with the bigger strap. I prefer smalls, but either is reasonable. With a bulkier boot, medium probably preferable.

I’ll post something more in-depth later, but Hanger 3.0 Mercury rips. Enough so that I’ll probably sell my Hanger 2.0 Drive and Apollo sets and pick up another Hanger 3.0 binding from my local in the fall... maybe another set of Mercury. I would go Drive but I really like the new unibody straps. Like them better than my Burton straps (although Burton ratchets still better). Maybe get a Drive and see if my buddy can sell me some straps from their warranty stock.

H3 feels like a bit more a more solid platform than H2. I've mentioned this higher up on the thread, but I didn't especially like the Apollos on narrower boards but rode them on wider decks because the stiffer flex helped me better leverage the wider waist. Definitely true of the Cafe Racer (278 mm ww), and I never got Apollos on the Stealth (269) but first impression was the Drives felt a hair sluggish.

The Mercuries are theoretically slightly less responsive than the Drives (pretty much the same binding, just a lightly shorter, wider, more contoured highback), but I got way better power transmission. Was able to comfortably power through turns without the need for carbon highbacks. Didn't feel like I needed a stiffer binding at all. I'm not sure if I'd notice on the Orbit (263 waist), but I noticed a hell of a lot on the Stealth.

The new Jones straps are tits. The webbed toe strap is maybe the best toe strap I've ever used, definitely the best I've used on NOWs (various stock straps plus Burton Gettagrip 1 and 2). The ankle strap is thin, stiff, relatively large coverage. I like a solid strap (edit: solid as in sturdy, not as in shape), so I dug it. More comfortable than the stock Drive strap, more substantial than the Pilot, less flex than the Burton Hammockstrap. Don't know if I like it better than Burton straps, but I'd call it on par (albeit different). The new straps are 100% worth the premium over NOWs. If you're considering either a Pilot or a Drive, I'd just get a Mercury (pro tip: main difference between Pilot and Mercury is that latter had a carbon post... the post that cools with a Tool-less Kingpin set is all nylon, so you can switch off between the two of you get a set)

Like I said in previous post, I'd ideally get a Drive to get a little (like very little) binding variety in the quiver... but I like the unibody straps enough I might just buy another Mercury. Or just stick with one set of NOW/Jones with the Mercuries and move them around with the tool-less, and carry a non NOW/Jones in the car for catastrophic equipment failure.

I'm heavily leaning towards picking up next years Now Selects. Comparing them to the Mercury they're really close and the Selects have a new straps, including this toe strap that seems like it integrates aspects of the jones toe strap. The hinge is on there too (yippe). Not sure why they're calling it Hanger 3.0 and not 3rd base though. Seems like a missed opportunity. All in all this seems like where I want to be.

@kimchi

The Mercury sounds like a winner- especially with straps that don't need swapping out!! Never been a huge Jones brand fan but love my Nows. May have to replace my Drives with the new Mercury later in the year.

Is it worth replacing to B straps on the Drives or should I just get the next seasons Mercurys?

Toss-up. B straps are thicker and bit flexier. I like the new NOW strap better, but Burton ratchets are significantly better.

To me would come down to whether you can use the larger platform of Hanger 3.0 underfoot. If memory serves you got big feet and ride wide boards, so I'd probably wait for 2022 Mercury.

The new or newer Now straps are not a good fit. Ankle gives me pressure points and toe just slips all the time.

Im in Adidas 9US or 270MP and do prefer mid-wide to wide boards.

@unsuspected have you flipped the ankle straps?  found it helped a bit.

obviously flipping the ankle straps won't help the toe situation...

Absolutely worth it. I’ve done it on all 4 sets of my NOWs and also on my Sparks... already bought a full set and have them waiting for a new set of 3.0 Drives this fall.
