@matty - very cool, you are an artist?

Didn't expect the art history time and agree with almost all; just came from Amsterdam where we saw some prints after Hiroshige at the Van Gogh museum. Only saying Impressionism would not have happened without Hokusai et al is pushing it too much for me but whatever 🙂 definitely was a big thing and had a lot of influence.

Board graphics: I love many, from plain like Korua to some Mervins to this Charlie Slasher you mention. Right now I really like / want the Keith Haring Deep Thinker but don't think this board is such a good fit for me and my quiver 🙁 what I *need* a big Moss or Moon Buggy or Nitro Canon...

If the classic line is too planky/lifeless for you, and want a little more liveliness but still get that Korua charger vibe, then yeah def worth it imo.

... and what @elektropow said, too 😅.

Re: Colorado - I'm born and bred, left when I was 23, moved back for a little more than six months when I was 29, and then left for good.

Which part?

Lots of transplants from other places stoked on what they find there vs what they left behind. Kind of like California.

That is an excellent point. Most people move here from flat land, or in my case smaller mountains of Vermont. So to finally live somewhere so vast, free, and generally a more laid back culture is a really cool feeling. Very easy to go over the top about all the cool shit you now get to experience. Every state has its good and bad bullshit parts and people. Except Florida. I am also just overly cranky lately because we just had a handful of holidays creating the busiest few weeks of the year so full on jerry takeover and excessive stupidity.

Back on the graphic thing - evo just did a little thing on some artists

https://www.evo.com/discover/snow/artist-series

I understand the desire for some to have busy topsheets and quirky bases. It's all about personal preference really. For me personally, I like to keep it more minimal/simple with cool patterns, solid colors, tie dye styles, wood grain etc. United Shapes has done cool shit every year from solid colors to color spectrums to simple outer space stuff with solid bases.

I guess it depends on what you think “worth it” means.
For me, I loved the regular CR and wanted to see what the + lineup was like while sticking with a familiar shape. I unloaded a few decks over the summer and had space in the quiver and some extra cash to spend solely on snowboard gear.

Touching on a recent topic of discussion, I typically don’t like insanely light boards because they generally feel flimsy and feel like stability and durability have been sacrificed for weight savings. That isn’t the case for the CR+, in my opinion, so the extra $200 was worth it to me.

Done a bunch of stuff over the years with pencil, pastels, watercolor, and photography. A little bit of sculpture and even less oil paint. Art keeps me a little bit closer to sane. Saw a traveling collection at the Art Institute of Chicago about 15 years ago titled "Manet and the Sea" that showed the evolution of his (and the rest of the impressionists') paintings of water and waves. Seeing their styles and compositions change so radically in the late 1860s after the showings of Japanese art in Paris in 1867 was remarkable. There was a small collection of Monet's wave studies that blew my mind. I could really see the connection to his Water Lilies studies that he would paint 30+ years later (The Water Lilies three-panel dealie at MoMA in NYC is one of the more amazing paintings I have ever seen). Those wave studies showed (to me) the emergence of his fascination with trying to represent dynamic light and color as opposed to being focused on form.

Colorado Springs. Born there. Went to Cheyenne Mountain High School and then Colorado College. Aren't you from Fort Collins?

I was born in Ft. Collins, but I only lived there during early childhood & 2nd grade when my dad went back to CSU to get his Master's.

Crossing my fingers that '21 686 doesn't look like a Columbia bargain bin for toddlers.
