The Official Burton thread v2.0
Come on, Matty - it's not like I am taking over EL with hardcore mountaineering stuff 🙂 Looking forward to meeting more members in person this year!
So, I ran into Mark Fawcett today, and he's running step-ons. Says he's been on them for two years and loves them.
He said that the way the heel cleat pulls up on the back of the binding with no lift on toesides feels awesome and heelsides feel the same. I thought it was interesting because if anyone knows how good turns feel, it's that guy.
I haven't ridden step ons yet - but I have been trying to break in a both my new ION step on and tourist boots - compared to my Driver X ( previous gen) the ION step is super stiff ( and the tourist very soft).
Definitely looks promising in terms of stiffness for my preference in boots!
Can confirm StepOns for normal riders, too: heelside feels same as regular bindings and toeside feels somehow more responsive. I railed some toesides today on StepOns with a Kilroy 3D that (while not the same) compared favorably to X-base on Korua Stealth and Moss PQ (rode 3 boards today on same run over and over).
Yep, got the hth based on the hype and had a day so far and loved it. Way too early to know for sure, but the first day was really fun carving short lines and fast turns. Too many people on the hill to do anything deeper/longer. Can't wait to take it to Mammoth soon.
Rode the bottom feeder in 5ft of pow - totally awesome surfy ride - a lot more float than my 148 fishcuit I was riding the same day. I think my girls will love the Shift Sticks - looks to be a smaller bottom feeder. Deja Vu was $100...perfect to offset the cost of the others a bit...
They were selling current Gennies for $175 kinda bummed in retrospect I didn't get one - but cc was maxed out after two more trips there...
