Anyone knows if Photon Step on boots will pack out a lot?

Got my hands on a pair and out of the box they fit like my ~100days Ion leather (which I still find super comfy) length wise, a little bit concerned that they will break in and be too long in a handful days.

My 11.5 Photons had three days on them when I had gotten them and I make can't speak 100% for the Photons.

When I had gotten the Ions in 11.5 initially - they seemed too tight after wearing them for a day at  home. I ended up going to 12s - that was a mistake and they ended up being too big after a day of riding and I had too much movement laterally inside the boot. Went back to 11.5 Ions but with these at least length wise they never really eased up on my pressure point on my big toe - and ended up getting these fitted at a boot fitter. What size are you normally and what size are your boots?

EDIT: I believe the Photons come in Wide and Medium - which one are yours? If they are W maybe that's why the feel big?

My Photon SO and Ion leather are both 8.5.

Are the Liners M or W? For  me the Photons M SO seemed more comfortable compared to the ION SO ( also M liner)  - maybe slightly more room length-wise. - but fit very compare able. The Ion SO is much stiffer than the Photon SO - might also be the reason why Photon felt more comfy for me.

Just getting back from our local hill in Las Vegas and Burton was out there with Sensei and Pow Wrench - Wrench looks awesome - identical pretty much to Bottom Feeder - Sensei looks like a speed gun! Rode the HTH 160 - loved it.

My old non-SO Photons packed a lot in < 2 weeks, iirc and the biggest difference was felt the first few days.

My newer SO Photons don't see that much use as the SO bindings are on a park board that I ride rarely (not the boards fault, I just don't hit the park too often)

That's good to hear, will give it a try to see if I like it or not.

Just notice that with "fake" ankle strap, it does limit the range of movements around ankle part quite a lot.

I haven't noticed any softening but I've only been on mine about 7 times so probably too early to tell. Don't all boards soften up a little over time though?

You're right about that.  The point I was getting at is the board seems to be getting better the

more I ride it.  I've got around 20 days on it.

Cool, I generally agree it seems to get better each time for me as well, with the exception of one day but the conditions were crap and icy. Felt a little skidish that day but still held a decent edge and likely due to the icy snow. Generally, I like the flex, not too stiff but definitely not a noodle. Not the easiest to butter on though... 🙂

This line of convo makes me wonder: does "Infinite Ride" tech actually work? I thought the whole purpose of it was that boards don't break-in because they overbuild them then put them in that machine. Most boards I find are noticeably softer by day 5 or so. I haven't owned a Burton board in like 12 years and I can't recall if it was the same deal.

Could also be that people tend to get stronger as they ride more and get accustomed to the board.

Yes. Felt my aether getting softer last season. Did my first day of this season, man, just as difficult to butter as on day 1.

Resisting the urge to joke post...

Was actually just wondering about these two things. First, whether my old multiple season board is softening/noodling out and needs replacing or whether my thighs are getting thicc from other activities (being in stiffer boots probably plays a factor too).

Then also seeing as it's my first time on B boots and I generally think most tech advertising is BS, I was wondering whether B's tech makes a difference. Seems like their tech actually makes a difference after trying it out... if this infinite ride is the same I might consider a Burton board (haven't ridden one since I was a grom).
