Early snow in The Catskills has me frothing, just grabbed a used 160w 2020 Freethinker on Ebay for an early/late season rock board.  Was my size and a nice price, couldn't help myself.  Love my 163w Deepthinker and stoked to give this sled a whirl.

Does anyone understand what the point of that it at a high level?  Like, is the concept that it allows for a more precise engineering of the flex?

@alonzo

I had the originals, you could tie one side looser/tighter if so desired. I probably wasn't a good enough rider back then to really be able to take advantage of it, I just remember it being a pain in the ass to tie the outside ones.

I don't recall double tongue boots. What era were the originals?

Really like the slim, clean look of those. I didn’t look hard - they tighten along each side?

I'm guessing an inner & outer speedzone.

The originals. I am remembering these as being from 1991 but I could be off a season.

I like this idea, as opposed to just tightening around the front.

Oh god, my ankles hurt just looking at this boot.  Even worse boot than the Stumpy or the Airwalks.  This has got to be 91 or 92.

I remember doing something similar to my old B freestyle boots.  I made the liner a side lace up cuff instead of the wrap around foam liner.  I got a much tighter and responsive fit.

I can’t say what all years they had them, but I bought a pair new in 93 @ North Shore Surf and Skate in PDX. Rode them for two seasons.

Idk. I'm not sure I see a benefit bigger than the possible negatives. But I also don't know shit about them.

The normal Freestyle boots from that line with the softer rubber liner were way better boots.

Those Freestyles were great, my first real snowboard boots, rode them a few seasons.
