Owned the 57 Orbit, and rode @awd1105's 59 Cafe Racer for a few laps last szn (but in crappy spring conditions here in Ontario), fwiw.

Both great carving boards, and similar flex underfoot from what I recall. Orbit might be a touch more, but not significantly. Cafe surprised me with how fun it was to turn, and didn't feel as planky as my 56 Stealth at the time. The Orbit is a charger, but has a nice touch of liveliness to it that I really enjoyed and rode it everywhere as my DD last winter.

@awd1105 might be better suited to delve more into the Cafe, though, as it was his go-to last winter. Hope that helps a little 🤷🏻‍♂️.

First buy a CR/CR+ and ride it. Then maybe sell the Super8  🙂

Daaaaamnnnn...

I'm assuming with the Cafe racer plus, you'd be giving up some dampness vs the cafe racer because of the lighter weight? Which do you prefer?

I love them both, but you’re right; dampness v. response/weight savings. It’s one of my favourite shapes ever and both haul ass.

I do find myself reaching for the regular CR a bit more, but only because I’d rather not ride the + when the snow is unpredictable or shitty.

Thanks for the input man. I don't if it's been covered, but is the plus really that much stiffer?

Not by a whole lot. It feels springier, for sure. The adjective that kept coming to mind when I rode the + for the first time was “surgical.” It’s a really precise, crisp and snappy upgrade, so obviously not for everyone or any condition... unless you’re one of those people that isn’t ever paranoid about thrashing a pricier deck on crappy snow and rocks. I have a hard time shaking that feeling, most days.

Sold my Otto today.

Great board but for the daily driver spot I like the FA more.

A Otto + is what I want!

So you felt it lacked a bit of spring or liveliness, if you'd still go for the shape with other construction? I've owned two FA's, how'd you compare the two on how they turn, pop, flex etc.?

Cheers! Keen on trying out an otto.

The fa is more energetic and gives me more feedback from the surface I'm riding but the Otto turns so nice and doesn't have that exaggerated quick turn initiation that the fa has.

It feels flexier and a bit less popy but is a solid do everything board if you don't mind the early rise in the tail.

Will probably get the +

Everyone of my friends who tried it where stoked on how it carves and liked it for side hits and transitions.

It was super close but ended up keeping the FA

Edit: the dampness is closer to Mullair then a FA if that makes sense but flexier

Nice, thanks! Makes a lot of sense. Remeber that super quick turn of the FA, I like that but not always, hah. Did you feel like you were riding the otto with a slightly different temperament with how the turn engages and the extra width?

For me ( and there is no right or wrong ) I love that the Otto is less energetic and lively. I feel like it makes it plow through bumps on groomers with much more stability and takes less energy to ride because it doesn't deflect and you don't have to muscle it through crud, bump, etc. It just tracks straight and true where you point it.

I also don't feel like it turns slow at all, but I also have stiff bindings on it and they are NOWs as well, which are very responsive bindings. I don't feel like the rocker in the nose is a hinderance at all because of the massive amount of camber it has I feel more than offsets that small amount of early rise.

Even though Otto is 1cm wider at waist it didn't feel like it.

I only have one riding mode and that's fast and aggressive.

The more relaxed turn initiation just made it so I could push even more. =p
