@markusm

Have you had the chance to demo any of the Tur boards? Got to ride a Buteo 157. Almost made me sell all my other boards but wanna try the 162 before I buy one.

the tf54 is my fave pow board for my home mountain. its so much fun in the tight trees.

@pow_hnd lent me a TF157 because I went to Utah and the only solid board I brought was a 178 cm Dupraz D1... not the board for tight tree zones.

TF157 ruled. If Korua made a TF160, I'd have bought one already. I'm trying to convince pow_hnd to sell me his Stealth 163 as the next closest thing lol.

Has Korua changed anything in construction/flex over the years? 3 or 4 years ago I rode my brothers TF and while there was some to it I liked, overall I found it to be too "dead". Not enough liveliness trying to ollie and boost sidehits.

Could have just been me, but maybe they have changed over last few years.

I believe they've changed factories since then. A few of the guys here who had the og ones and that have now rode the newer ones, seem to enjoy the newer ones now. @matty and @triple8sol are ones that I can recall; hopefully they can elaborate more on this.

@parker had the same feedback for first-gen Koruas.

I own a newer (2020) Cafe Racer and I'll say it's not the liveliest board. Wrote this earlier in the thread, but it has a very "neutral" turning vibe to it. It doesn't spring you one turn to the next, you have to create that spring yourself. I kind of like it, the United Shapes Orbit has a ton of power out of the tail and launches one turn to the next. Super fun, but like trying to tame a bucking bronco. The Korua just waits for me to tell it what to do and then does it. Way more overall relaxed ride, but definitely not the liveliest.

Got out on my Stealth 63 today for it's first proper pow day. Hell fuckin' yea!

LOVED the deck.

So today the pow was a little heavier than normal Utah blower, but not heavy or mashed potatoes. It was the kinda snow that PNW people would call blower ( I know I grew up there ). For this kinda snow and with there being 14" overnight I decided the TF54, while great in the pure untracked would be a handful when it started to get choppy and when on the "groomers" when making my way from stash to stash.

The Stealth fucking killed it. It rides super long on edge, and stiff and powerful when busting through chunder, but get in some untracked and it floats everything like a 63, but turns like its a 56ish. The easiest, quickest turning deck I've ever had this size by far. My stashes are some quite tight willows and this thing was every bit as nimble as the TF54 in those spots, which is crazy to say.

I had wondered if I was gonna keep this deck, @kimchi was hopeful he could snag it from me, but it's staying in the stable. On groomers ( which were pretty choppy ) it laid down some mean trenches just like all my other Koruas.

Fuck riding this thing switch though ( at least on soft groomers ). I always flip around at the end of my run at Snowbasin to rest my knee, did it today and after about 3 turns the mini swallow tail dug in and tomahawked me. Truly can't remember that last time that's happened.  Won't be doing that again.

Like @pow_hnd said, I was bugging him seeing if he'd sell his Stealth based on him saying he'd hardly ridden it (I think on DMQ). He rode it above, loved it, and told me tough luck haha.

But he pinged me this morning saying Korua had Stealth 163s back in stock direct. Came out to 420€, which nets out to about $507 USD. Exchange rates aren't great right now (at least compared to the 5 years pre-COVID), but that's not too bad.

I haven't paid full price for a board in years, but I'm almost positive these are fully sold out in North America and I'm not sure Korua will make any more, so I just pulled the trigger. I had a feeling I'd like this board, and I'm even more sold after quick demoing pow_hnd's Tranny Finder 157 and putting the Cafe Racer 164 through its paces for a few days.

I still wish Korua made a Tranny Finder 160 or 163, and the waist was like 5 mm narrower... but they don't so this is the next best thing.

I'm heading to Bend in a couple days for a week, so I just hand it sent directly there. Hopefully no USPS issues (knock on wood).

Just scooped a TF 54 on sale for AUD $480 (USD $370) which I was stoked with as I haven't found one cheaper than US $550. I really hope we get some decent snow this year!!

I'm surprised how relaxed my Cafe Racer rides. Tripped me out at first, I was expecting poppy powerful turn-to-turn transition. You can CREATE that feeling with rider input, but the board doesn't launch you the way I expected off the Yearning for Turning videos. But I've come to appreciate it. I can create that pop myself, and when I hit a sidehit wrong or get a bit sketched out, I can generally ride out of it. As opposed to some of my naturally burlier, poppier, sendier boards... if I'm not on point with while riding, my ass is hitting the ground.

this felt like a romcom where we all wondered if you and the stealth were ever gonna hook up

and now we're at the destination wedding scene wondering if she'll show up or you'll be left standing at the alter alone.
