Nitro movie is up. Intro is sick, haha

“Offline”

Film is so good, love the vibe. Loved the Austin Smith segment especially.

Haha, i wanted to punch him in the face after he listed what offline meant to him. Privileged piece of shit gets paid to avoid realities. So jelly.

Also, not sure about the santoku but Elias did ride the stock uberspoon, which is very flexible tip to tail, but torsionally quite solid and I had no problems doing big stuff on it. Float with that profile and flex is ridiculously good. Best pow twin ever. If the santoku is softer, no good. But very intriqued.

Nitro rates the Santoku as 7 out 10, so I’m hopeful and if it’s anywhere near the Team in flex I’m sold. Loved everything about the Uberspoon except for how soft it was.

Yeah needed to get used to it, but loved its playfulness right away. Wouldn't mind a bit of extra backbone (as you said the team flex would be perfect and elias did ride the t1 before uber..) but it did hold a giid edge and was solid in pow for my weight as soon as I found its limits how to stomp my landings. Legs got stronger too during thr season, so that was a plus, hah. Amazing profile regardless.

No shit. I'm trying to make another season happen on the mountain with minimal to no work. It's doable when you have no loan or family, but definitely means a lot of sacrifices.

Lol not sure if this was a chirp. Either way, did say I had a similar reaction 😅.

Anyway, if the Dropout was had the flex of the Fusion, would've been tempted. And that white/red Fusion looks beautiful, esp in person.

Fondled a production Santoku 159. Definitely not as soft as initial reports of pre samples suggested (from online and offline sources), but not stiff either nor equivalent to many of the "7 scale" Nitro models, as much as I'm able to tell from hand flexing and trying to manipulate flex points with multiple body parts. Very similar to my über, maybe hair stiffer. Smooth flex and the profile is sexy as hell from any perspective. Even smoother transition for tips. If I break the über coming season I may have to replace it...

Did a couple laps on the squash split today. Surprise, the 63 split rides like a very slightly larger 59 solid 😜 need to tweak my front binding a little more forward, but felt awesome to be back on my favorite board in good snow.

One thing I will say about the split aspect itself, G3 skins do not fit well with their tip and tail clips on the squash shape - it places the side hooks directly into the nose hook rivets, not allowing you to align your skins very well. Would be best to have the bar-style nose attachment, and maybe a more straight attachment for the tail like for skis. I bet straight-up ski skins would actually work well on this shape. The size small skins from my hovercraft 56 are also too short, but I can extend the metal clip all the way to the very end of the rubber tail to get it to work, though it  came off a couple times today. No big deal, not too picky about that stuff, but I do plan to get new skins at some point.

On another nitro note, we got a surprise announcement for opening one of the upper lifts tomorrow, and it will be probably a nice 8” mild pow day on some bumpy jumpy terrain. Going to try out the fusion. Stoked!

Rode the fusion today for a partial opening. Not really wet, but kind of dense, anywhere between 8-12”, getting increasingly bumpy (but fun) as the day went on. Seems like a cool board, pretty normal to me, but has that bonus directional feeling to it that separates it from a “traditional” all mountain design. Great replacement for the Mullair in terms of type of board - I can definitely see spending a lot of time on this when it hasn’t snowed in a while, and during spring for ripping groomer & side hit laps. Also won’t let you down on a pow day.

This is as close to a twin as I will ride, and it serves the exact same purpose for me, but makes way more sense in actuality. This is the type of board I should have been riding all those years on twins.

The service road was the only groomed area today, and it isn’t super wide, so you can’t get too into carving, but had a chance to feel it out. Feels pretty sharp, definitely not a quick sidecut as suggested by the listed radius blend. Easy to ride if you’re half decent, but does have a little more of an aggressive feeling. Holds up. Stiffer from tip to tail than the squash; a nice firm flex.

Looking forward to spending more time on it. Obligatory chairlift shot

I wish they made a 62. 59 is fine, it doesn’t ride small and it’s not soft, but...

Also, I think I’m going to forget about the banker. I like this shape/aesthetic more and they’d be filling the same spot.

Was tempted by this year's 54 Fusion. Liked the level of stiffness from hand flex, the amount of camber and the topsheet & base are beaut. If it had same width as the Banker, strong chance I'd have it right now lol.

That reminded me, Knut says you should size down… his comment was that if you normally ride around 160, you would want the 54.  I knew that wouldn’t be true, and after riding it, I  have no idea what they’re talking about 🤷‍♂️ why is everyone trying to go shorter anyway? Maybe they think because it’s a little stiffer and has a little more nose, you can get away with it. But “getting away with it” is not the same as an ideal size you should ride.

So, TL;DR PSA IMO, size normally

Judging by what you prefer lately it seems that you tend/try to go longer 😎

PS. Looking at the specs of the fusion i wouldn't size down either.

I have been preferring about a size up the last few years (61/62 instead of 58/59), and after I rode that ridiculous 195 and it was still insanely fun and easy to ride, it made me realize the illusion of board size. Still have a preferred range, everyone does, but... soon my quiver will be from 56 to 71
