I had been looking at the Prowder pucks. I'll check out the Spark ones.

Are those Spark bindings too?

Yup, Spark Afterburners.. Best IMO.. Have had both Karakorams and Sparks and will never ride Karakorams again... Smart guys and they have helped Splitboarding no doubt, but Sparks are better in all aspects, again IMO...

I've got a set of Spark Afterburners in a Medium that I'm looking to trade for something in a Large. Would prefer Spark again, but am open to Karakoram too.

Heard it here first, Union split binders for 2017-18.  If you want a sneak peak, watch the last scene in Fourth Phase.

That part I haven't heard yet, but I should know soon, my main touring partner is supposed to be getting one as soon as it's possible... Blue didn't elaborate much more in his email, other than to say it's a go and he'll get him one one ASAP to help with last minute R&D...  But when my homie showed me the email I was pretty hyped to know that there's gonna be the real deal from Capita soon...

i could get on board with that and wait one more year for a split setup. i was really starting to think about the iguchi pro, but a capita/union collab might go to the top of the list

I'm stoked (and a little surprised!) to hear about capita/union entering the splitboarding realm.

As for pucks: I do run the prowder binding saddles. Mine are from the original production run a couple of years ago. The biggest advantages for me are:

  • They allow me to adjust the pucks (let's just call them pucks) heel-toe. Now the Spark ones also allow that, but when I got these the best you could do otherwise to was flip the voile pucks heelside to toeside.
  • They're metal, so they are stiff. More responsive than voile pucks.
  • My split is a custom one. Chair 2 made it for me from my 2012 BSOD. I was never super stoked on the locked-in stance option from having my pucks limited to just one position. The binding saddles can be set up to use the remaining 2x4 inserts from when my board was a solid board. Now I have just as many stance options as I do on any other board.

My main concern with the binding saddles is that they are a mix of stainless steel and aluminum. The steel part is the part that comes into contact with my bindings' base plates. Steel and aluminum don't play super nicely. So far, so good - but I don't have a ton of miles on this setup yet, as I don't split that much and the last few winters have either been horrible with no snow (13-14 and 14-15) or had bad avy conditions out of bounds (15-16). I am hoping to finally get more usage out of these things, as right now I have maybe a dozen days on them.

Also: the Voile Spartan splitboard is a FANTASTIC idea. A solid, no-frills, factory-made splitboard in good sizes (154-166) for $550. It's got a few millimeters of taper and an early-rise camber/s-rocker/"directional camber" (what are we calling it these days?) profile. My only real concern is that it's supposedly a little bit on the softer side. Hey Jones, Venture, Prior, K2, Trapper, Unity, Burton, Lib Tech, etc.: why are you charging $800+ for a splitboard? This one is $550, it comes with the channel system, a sintered base, and the PUCKS AND HARDWARE ARE INCLUDED AT THIS PRICE.

I've read about this steel/aluminum concern with Prowder but so far it seems it's all just speculation and no one has brought forth any actual issues they've had.

A screencap from someone that has bought the movie would be good. Genuinely curious to see what the union people came up with.

As for splits. I don't own one and don't see myself spending 1.5-2K euro in the near future buying all the equipment i don't have.
