First time getting fresh cords in a long time.... rode the orbit... you can assume the rest

Now that you've experienced the goodness of the Orbit, you need to get on a Pencil next 😉. Such a great ripper, also. Can't wait to get back on it, once this lockdown lifts.

Word, I’d be down to try a 64, or the 57 tranny

I hard a weird day on my Covert 161… I frikkin love this board, despite the fact that it is probably too small for me and for the deep conditions I rode today, not to mention softer than anything else I have.

But it is so easy to ride. I almost went over the handlebars at least twice on this run (video) but it totally let me correct in time and otherwise was stable and handled everything perfectly. A joy.

I've ridden this line a hundred times and today was the best ever. I thought the Pencil was amazing but IDK, the extra size (164 wiiiide) and stiffness sometimes trip me up it seems.

All that said, part of me would want it to be a bit longer, a bit wider, a bit stiffer… but then it'd just be the Pencil (which I have in split). And I do love it as it is.

So I'll just leave it at that.

Non-sticky mashed potato Orbit day. I’m sold. Holds such a solid line, way stabile, very low Deflection Index™ - ie powers through smoothly without flinching. Launch out of turns.

OG Squash on roids is really a pretty accurate description. I would say this is at the top of the most stabile boards I have ever ridden. The only other two that come to mind are the hammerhead and old camber Malolo.

Been tweaking the exact setback. 22” ref, and was set up on the pack right behind that. Backed off the front foot to slightly under 22”, and that’s been the best balance for me so far. So basically, split the difference between ref and the pow packs.

Did I burn the base or is it just uneven? Will get some better pics later if necessary.

Do any of those line up with binding inserts?

Another day. I’m now claiming the orbit is an extension of my body.

That is all

No they are near the edge on the right side.
Looks like the base has some kind of cavity.

I have had some boards that did that after an impact. It seemed like the impact hadn't involved something to scrape up the base material, bu the core had been compressed underneath.

I agree that it appears from the pictures to look more like a core compression than a burn. Base burns look like melted plastic. That looks like a nice landing on a snow covered igneous rock. Though getting one on the tail gives me a hard time... because those types of core compressions are typically under foot.

I have seen similar looking base deformities on new boards from the oem. Really hard to say just from the pictures.

Will take some pics from a different angle and then take it to a shop for a second opinion and have it base grinded and edges done.

Finally a legit pow day on the orbit. 12-16” since Sunday when they were last open, got up for first chairs.

I don’t have anything to add about the board, it’s just good. It’s everything I love about the squash but more so.

Finally someone is seeing the light! I've been arguing that with a couple friends since the first year Squash hypetrain. Had an Orbit 157 and 151 at that time but nobody would listen 😓
