Day 14 or so into a pretty grim season so far out here. Very thin, rotten snowpack with maybe 3ft in the shady trees and likely blown away above treeline. Lots of avalanches and accidents already. Enough snow to do some meadow skipping, but the usual spots are getting seriously blown up with people and a little repetitive as I try to search new zones without destroying boards. I finally got to take the mind expander out for a few laps and it's pretty frickin' fun. Exactly what I'd hoped for in low angle pow and trees. Turns really fast and nimble between trees, floats great, stiff enough where it doesn't feel like a rockered noodle but has a nice loose feel. Really slashy which makes the super slow stuff more fun. I used to be fine with the hovercraft in tighter trees, but man has it felt slower than shit lately. I kind of want to sell it for something similar but just different enough. Maybe an amplid surf shuttle, hometown hero, weston 10th mtn...
Didn't buy a pass to anywhere this year for a multiple reasons. I'd sure like to rip some groomers at this point though. Hope you guys all have a good season
Is anywhere in North America having a good season other than the PNW?
California has been sub-par so far this year-- enough coverage to have fun on groomers, and occasional gamble off-piste. Stuff is open, but definitely anything other than groomers is at your own risk. I would still take out a rock board if we got a big storm.
I've heard Utah is in pretty bad shape.
I haven't been following Colorado too closely, except hearing that they had some SKETCHY avy conditions in December around Christmas.

I heard Texas is going off.
9" a few days ago. Might be the deepest snowpack outside of the rockies.
Staying pretty warm here, around 40 at sea level and mid 30s at Eaglecrest. Getting some snow but not the greatest, often rain at the base and wet up top. Coverage is good enough right now but not the safest layers out of bounds.
Meanwhile, Madrid gets record setting snowfall in the capital ... crazy times were in.

TG/Jax is looking good
Montana is Bad

The worst start to winter in 50 years here in Utah. Resorts are just groomers and crazy crowded “feeling” because of lack of terrain open.
I keep doing 45-60 mins of cardio everyday, so when winter finally turns on I can just get out and crush it on the split....
Don't know if we'll even have much of a season left around these parts, with all resorts closed still since Boxing Day. We're going into our second State of Emergency due to skyrocketing COVID cases/deaths. Well-being of folks is main priority, of course. But a bit of a bummer, since our winter is already relatively short to begin with 😥.

Yea, I saw some pictures of PC during Christmas holidays. Saw some article saying hotels were at around 70% of capacity, but was poking around their trail map and I think they were about 15% open.

Vibes, @gd. Guessing you're in Ontario?
I've been getting out every chance I can. California is going to be in dire straits over the next few weeks... saw a projection that we likely won't see peak infections until about January 27 thanks to Christmas gatherings (ugh). I wouldn't be shocked if resorts are shut down by the state, so I'm just trying to get in what I can until that happens.
Pretty much the only positive thing I have to say is at least we're doing better than Arizona.
midwest has been pretty average, temps are finally stabilizing in the mid-twenties, hopefully that stays when/if we finally get some more precipitation, last two storms were mixed bags coming in/out of warm spells.
also, slipped out on an edge trying to weave between two trees on a sidehit, and caught one of them with my front knee. was still able to do mellow turns for the rest of the day, minor discomfort on lifts, but walking back to the car was not as easy. currently icing it up at home. no major swelling yet, so I'm hoping it's not too serious.

Thanks, dude. And yeah, Ontario. Been a bit rough out here, we've been in lockdown even before Boxing Day.
But the next couple weeks looking a tad more worrying over there for you lot south of the border. Crazy, crazy times. Be safe out there, dudes.
Leftovers today, didn’t explore to find much, got a couple clips during last run
