Showed up at noon yesterday but they had just opened the gate before I got there, hiked first run and ended up getting first line down a fun cruiser called surfers chute. Seems boring due to hypersmooth and flattish light, but man that was creamy.
Orbit looks like a great fit for you. Super controlled and fun to watch
Thanks dude! Yeah, it’s a pretty superb fit. No complaints with the 57 given specs are like a ~165, but I would be really stoked on a 160 too.
This season keeps on giving. April first; another pow day… on top of that, good visibility (rare here) and a very light load in the parking lot. Ghost town.
Did gopro laps so will put that together later, and also just got follow footage of me that the Eaglecrest media guy shot a week ago on a pow day.
In terms of recorded snowfall, this is our second best winter on record, and I believe we just broke the all-time record for most snowfall in March. Feeling lucky.
Wow, beautiful clip. That looks really, really fun. Are you using the mouth mount?
Edit from yesterday. How is this April? Normally our conditions taper off pretty quickly as March comes to an end, but I guess it’s not totally unheard of.
Somehow today’s conditions were even better, granted we weren’t riding in bounds. Hiked ridge laps with Rainery & co - snow wasn’t “heavy” yesterday but lost some moisture overnight, and we rode AK blower with good vis. What a season.
Crazy conditions esp given time of the year @spenser, that's awesome. And that treetop ollie was sick, the little pillow/kicker in the trees was looking real tasty in that clip, also. Was hoping you'd hit it straight on haha 😋.
On the contrary, our szn officially ended yesterday as our province is going into our 3rd shutdown due to 3rd wave/rapid jump in Covid cases from the variants. Thankful still managed ~30 days in this unprecedented winter, but still a bummer 😔.
April 2
I’ll have one more soon.. March 24 powzer-follows on the Orbit
Which tree? I was hoping to go bigger too, but.. go small or don’t go at all. Also thought of doing a little indy shifty on the other drop between two trees, but then I didn’t.
Think it was the one at 3:20? Where you ollie'd/tapped that tree, from that angle at least.
Video from yesterday. Got there on time and then broke a speed lace again, luckily had the replacements and tool in my bag, then went and rode some “AK blower” with Jeremy just in time for the chair opening. Currently still dumping at sea level, and they had to put the lifts on wind hold today, so tomorrow should be good as well; calling for another near-foot pow day. Pretty crazy April for us here, and about to break 500”...
Wow, beautiful clip. That looks really, really fun. Are you using the mouth mount?
Thanks dude. Yeah i'm using a mouth mount from amazon which is surprisingly comfy to use. Its a softer rubber instead of moldable, but I find it much easier and more convenient to use than the head strap. Easier positioning/getting the angle right and you don't have to fuck around putting the thing on/off your head to check if the camera is recording/frozen/whatever. The one downside in my experience is the sound of breathing is overpowering, but that doesn't matter much if you use music with your clips.
Sweet, thanks, and I’ll keep that in mind about the specific mount. I often enjoy the slightly lower position of the camera, but agree about breathing, and there are other reasons I still prefer it on my head. I’ve used the strap so many times at this point that I find it pretty easy, but it’s naturally more cumbersome than biting down on something.
Chest mount is a different story… it should be banned IMO 😜 maybe okay for skiing
Mouth mount footage >>>>> helmet cam footage apparently. I've been thinking about picking one up for surfing.
