I sure hope I can join this thread soon. We basically still have nothing. Seems like our winters are delayed, show up suddenly in mid December, and sometimes spring weather events lead to quick endings. Historically I’d have at least 10 days right now, and late Nov/early Dec is the time of year in which I have ridden the best powder conditions of my life.

It’s cold right now so they are blowing snow… I imagine they will open the bunny hill soon, maybe this weekend. Totally underwhelming, but the process of going up to the mountain & gearing up still feels great.

I'm still in Berlin, but watching Hakkoda closely (literally I made an app for that) and there too, very late start. Last year end of November we were up to our crotches. Today, well, there's frost. It's a start?

If things get desperate…

(That's quite far from where I will be.)

Huh I searched for this thread a couple times thinking it was already up so I could live vicariously through you guys since you would always beat me to the punch. My resort here on the east coast has been open a week, we've gotten early snow two times in a row now. It's always a struggle whether it's worth it to go in the early season for a handful of major runs you share with everyone while you're in a cloud with the fake snow getting blasted in your face.

Looking forward to the posting by everyone

Day 1. Snowbasin. Long Groomers, nice and smooth in the AM.

First day on my total knee replacement.

It was 100% pain free!

First time in a decade that I've had a pain free day of snowboarding.

Will be riding an insane amount this year now that,

A. it doesn't hurt

B. I won't need 2-3 days for the swelling to go back down so I can ride again.

FUCKING STOKED

Day 1 was on Friday at Whistler/Blackcomb. Man-made snow up top allowed them to open a few runs on each peak. Fun to be up on snow, but not worth it to go back up Saturday with the crowds and limited runs open. Now waiting impatiently for things to get going in the North Cascades.

Very late start here in Hakkoda. Last year at this time the ancient little chairlift was open. Locals are freaked as they had never seen the mountain bare on the 1st of December.

But it has snowed and the temps look like they will now stay below zero. So… hoping for a few weeks of blowers to catch up.

day ~8 here in the midwest, first handful were mostly jumping over/onto culverts, now there’s a few more runs open, just need more natural snow to open up the better terrain in the area.

So, I was all worried and thought we didn’t have much snow… been snowing this week a little at sea level, didn’t think there would be too much up higher… but Eaglecrest just sent out a post, and apparently we have 4ft at the top (2600ft) and 2ft at the base (1200ft). Opening day is this weekend, and the forecast still looks good. That kind of came out of nowhere.  I haven’t been hiking because we didn’t have much a week ago.

Oh for fucks sake. It was a misrepresentation.. 4ft/2ft snowfall to date, not snow depth, so it’s probably closer to half that. Oh well, still on our way.
