Also, I know this isn’t what you were saying, but it is far from true that you are just going to find better terrain at a big resort. I bet you there are more hidden gems with amazing/better terrain than there are large resorts, crowded with people, with high prices, everyone fighting for the goods.

Can't speak to the situation in AK, but depends on the resorts. I can find some sick terrain at lower key spots in Tahoe... but I'm never going to find anything as epic top to bottom as I can find off a great tram run at Jackson Hole, off KT-22 at Squaw, or the chutes at Kirkwood. Problem with those spots is I get maybe 1 or 2 runs on those before every conceivable riding surface is tracked to shit.

nah- I was just at Jackson yesterday- had not snowed in a while- I found some great pow still- just gotta know where to go. Corbetts was closed. Watched some guy poach it. then I looked into S&S coulior and wowza is that thing scary. but damn- Jackson is so damn steep and everything is damn near rideable, so fun and the stash parks and regular parks are so nice too. that place is so great- I am going to move there when I turn 50.

Jackson's probably a bad example, was just first place to came to mind as a steep destination ripper resort. That place is so big and so far from major metros it never gets that crazy. Pretty mellow all considered other than tram line for first tracks. And yes that place is steep as shit and so fun.

Snowbird probably better example. Rad mountain, definitely some stashes on the less gnarly stuff, but definitely a lot of tracks within an hour or two of rope drop.

ya and if you want first tram at Jackson you gotta be in line (on a pow day) at 6am. I saw some dudes getting in line at 730 on a no pow day- not sure why but I guess so they can post about it on insta. I have seen some crazy things when the rope  drops at Snowbird, 200 people waiting on the mineral rope. That gets nuts for sure.

Gonna have to send that to my family who enjoyed Bachelor on a 30" base with me over Christmas.

This is going up Cloudchaser (where most of that was shot) our first day there.

I had a 2ft blower bluebird day there, on Saturday to boot. Met up with a friend from Juneau who now goes to school in Eugene, who is a ripping fast rider and showed me around the crowds. We lapped off of rainbow chair all day and rode totally fresh lines in the woods with nobody around. It’s the old slow chair, I think 14 minutes, barely anybody over there. I was on my fish; you know it was a good day.

First day behind. Fuck me. Following a uk champion who rides everything. Most epic but definitely not a mellow way to start the season!

Holy shit snowboarding is fun.

Gear remarks: Niche Aether with Union Team Forces. Snappy bindings, can see why people like them! Not a lot of cushioning. Aether was stiffer than I remember, fell on the first heelside carve because I forgot how much force I need to put in in order to make it slingshot and pop back out (locks in quite aggressively). Couldn't really butter it too well either, but must be the first day out..

Some cool sidehits to be had, more snow coming in a few days. Hard but grippy snow regardless, not bad at all.

Damn. The world is really struggling, but some places are getting snow. I am still holding my breath, but we haven’t had the worst weather lately. Today was beautiful snow, nuking most of the day, although you could feel the bits of bumpy frozen stuff underneath.

Followed Sam around again; should have another little sendy edit soon, probably a bit longer than last time.

I hope things shape up for everyone who is not getting the winter weather they’d hope for. It’s not amazing here either, but I can’t complain.
