Also spent some time with NP1 sealant yesterday since it’s finally not raining - resealed windshield and sunroof. I think I’m finally dry.

Long story short, I found out that Falken recently changed their AT3W rubber compound in production runs for cost savings and they are testing differently in the same winter conditions, not for the better.

Where did you find out about that?

Joe Bacal, a professional rally & stunt driver, and tire developer for various companies, often those that compete directly. He recently started a YouTube channel, and although we should normally hesitate to trust people on the Internet, he is a reputable source. Claimed the AT3W had previously been his go-to tire on most of his vehicles, but found out via “internal information,” which he didn’t share in detail, that the compound changed and he shared his thoughts & their testing results. At the time I posted I think it had been a little over a month since he said he acquired that info. It’s kind of annoying to find on your own, but it’s spread all throughout the replies to comments on his test videos. On that note, dude is crazy active replying to everyone, pretty cool.

Thanks for the info. Needed to be able to quote a source before I go parroting it haha. That's too bad though. I had a set of Wildpeaks the first year they came out (Load E) and they were noticeably more confident on packed snow and in slush vs. what I've been running since...KO2's in Load E and C which are not bad.

This video on the Toyo has most of the comments… again, kind of annoying to sift through yourself, as you have to go through replies, but they are there

You will see his comments on the KO2... that’s the tire he doesn’t name in the video, due to its performance. Thought that was kind of funny…

Unlike snowboards where (although there are absolutely performance differences) so much of it is preference, skill level, conditions… in a controlled environment in a vehicle, I feel like we can put some stake into feedback from folks like him

Snowing at sea level. Yay! Went on a drive to give the Toyos a test, and they feel solid. Drove around on the beach (rocky), climbed a couple pitches with snow, and braked hard/took off hard on a bridge where it was more packed & frozen.

Laugh now, but that thing is better than a Tesla because it's literally powered by 42 gogo dancers AND it can go to the moon. Not to mention, look at all that storage in the bumper! It's got more air than a longo side hit...I've heard it can fit 860 slush slashers or just 1 shaun white ego.

I should have never been shown that site, fortunately this custom 80 series pickup has already sold.
