What a contrast between the two

70 is never gonna happen given the circumstances, but it is my favorite

Bringing them back was a good move; lucky AUS/etc. I think they’d sell great here.

I should have never been shown that site, fortunately this custom 80 series pickup has already sold.

I'm particularly interested in the Legacy GTV wagon w/ 30k for $5700 delivered to Tacoma.

after being a happy Ford ranger owner for the past 14 years (I’ve had 3 of them) I’m ready for a new mid size beater.  When did I miss small pick ups sky rocketing in price? Used market is kinda wild

I've seen complaints pop up about this in past 5-7 years. Not a pick-up owner / fan but while car searching, I saw complaints pop up that manufacturers basically stopped making light pickups and that "small" trucks to today are as big as mid-size or even large pickups of 10+ years ago. I imagine that puts a ton of pressure on the used market since everyone looking for a light pickup has to to buy used.

Used market for everything is nutter butter. Imo in part due to the devaluation of the dollar and then also, the used car pricing books/guides were bought by the largest used car retail conglomerate, so they've been manipulating the pricing that way too.

I looked for a Tundra for 2 years. I took the expected miles and divided by the price. What I found was the the price per mile was almost the same for a used vehicle as for a new one. There was a slight linear decline, but not enough to make sense. Basically, someone else gets the new miles at the same cost as the used buyer getting the more riskier miles. It's not until you get into the real high miles that there's a real drop off. But by that time you can expect to be doing a lot more maintenance... and you don't know how someone else mistreated the thing.

It's bananas that the cost per mile on a brand new vehicle can be so close to that of one which has 1/3 or 1/2 of its effective life used up.

The thing is, I didn't want a new vehicle. I needed one where my kids can spill their trail mix and wipe their cheeto fingers on it without me getting angry at them for being kids.

I know this doesn't apply to every make and model. But imo it's still way out of line for a lot of shit on the market.

@Kimchi it's a bummer that there isn't a true small/mid size pick up available.  While I'd love a Tacoma, the resale prices are insane that goes in line with what @c-fuzzy is saying.

I don't even want a NEW or even slightly new vehicle, just something with less miles and a little more reliable than my current Ranger is.  I'll be stuck in the city for at least two more years while GF finishes med school - my truck has been sideswiped several times from shitty parallel parkers, also stuck with street parking for awhile, and yesterday someone busted out the cab window and went through all my shit but didn't steal anything.. -_-
