The Bike Thread
Coz we need other activity for summer time...
Currently ripping around on a transition blt dirt jumper. Slowing rebuilding my Kona long travel hard tail. Got the drivetrain to a 1x10. New brakeset and hub rebuild or new wheel set is next. Nothing in the road category in my quiver though an adventure road bike or cyclocross would be sweet.
I've been mashing on a Cannondale Catalyst 1. Pretty "low end" in componentry and overall cost (need to save the dolla dolla billz yall for shred gear whoring)...but still fun as hell. It's my first 650B. If I had more time to ride, I'd love to have some sort of adventure/road bike.
Dropped my hard tail off at the local shop to have a shimano xt brakes put on. probably the last thing ill replace until the wheels are shot. Should be ready to rip. Have to spin around on the DJ for about a week.
Cruising this little DIY skatepark last night and a guy showed up on a road bike, I think a specialized diverge, and started cruising around. Handled it pretty well all things considered. I was waiting for a wheel to taco though.
I am picking up a Kestrel 200SC tomorrow with dura-ace 7400. Pretty stoked... frame is in super good shape for old carbon and the price was right.
Just googled it, looks rad.

that's why I don't have a mtn bike; shit's expensive. my summer activity is longboarding. cheap and easy (like your mother ;D).

They are neat bikes. Kestrel produced the first all carbon frames in the late 80's, from what I understand.
I'll throw up some photos of the new pickup when I clean her up a bit.
Here's a photo of my other build with Sante groupset...
@Amadeu, you got to rotate your handlebars so the bottom ends runs parallel with top tube. Nice roadie btw.
I'm building up my Wilier Superleggera Ramato atm. I know it's heresy mentioning this, but I've given up on buying new snowboarding gear due to my location and putting the funds into a road bike.
what are everyone's thoughts on a fixed gear with a front disc brake? something i've been considering for a little while now.
any reasonably priced fork recommendations?
Semenuk is on another level. Makes the most difficult tricks look so easy and stylish.

@coleslawed just go brake less
Not a close-up of the bike, as there's not much to see as it's all black, but I took this pic yesterday while taking a bit of a breather during a quick spin along the coast before work.
It's a Cannondale Bad Boy, which get a lot of flak on bike blogs/sites over here mainly for the people they think who'll be riding them, but it suits me. Only change has been from 700x28 Schwalbe slicks to 700x32 specialized tyres with a tiny bit of cut either side of the dead ahead.
