I recall an Ejack interview (I think) where he said while his brother was at the top, he (ejack) has a series of injuries and was basically on the chopping block with lib and realized he had one season left to put it together and so he made a list of his trick goals and just buckled down and that's when it all changed for him.

So to echo what @kimchi said, I expect there was a big spread in their sponsor dollars and while ejack was on the come up his take was more in line with whatever the current market was able to support.

Wasn't it also that while Johns stock was at it's peak he also was plagued with some injuries which I'm sure didn't help.

To the Ejack stuff, yea that about jives with my expectations. I doubt he ever had a taste of the top-tier "cheddar biscuits" JJ and his peers' experienced, so it wasn't as big a blow when rider team budgets dramatically shrank.

Yea, if memory serves John blew out his knee shortly around 2012 and got dropped by Burton not too long after. He was out of the game for something like 2 full seasons. He was only a few years removed from Rider of the Year and guest starring in Art of Flight, so rough timing... career-threatening injury in the middle of his prime, right as the industry was undergoing major financial pressure and rider compensating was nosediving.

anyone else watch the Baldface Natty Select?

Rasman was the clear men’s winner from the single line segment. assuming individual parts will drop for viewing after Real Snow is done (which, also some cool stuff).

I was partial to Sollors's line. Rasman's was higher degree of difficulty with gnarlier terrain selection and more technical tricks, but a little uneventful in the middle. Sollors was just just so smooth and flowy. I legit don't think he hesitated once on the ride down.

I'd probably give the result to Rasman as a judge, but Sollors had my favorite line.

Weird how the one part I didn't leave a chance won real snow.

  1. Why even bother having a fan vote if they're going to blatantly ignore it?
  2. Goddammit fans are stupid lol. I like Stale's part and thought it was podium worthy, but 28% of the vote? Feels like fucking All-Star Game voting.

Watching Sage's part again... pretty gnarly. Ton of clips and high degree of difficulty. But felt like almost too many clips, really frenetic editing with most of the shots in real-time. Felt almost suffocating in a 90 second part.

I'd say Sage's riding was probably the most impressive, but I'm still backing Kevin. Dude's part just made me want to go riding the most (and I generally always want to go riding lol).

Kevin's video has a unique vibe to it. It was the only one I wanted to watch over and over again.

Sage, while having impressive riding, didn't have a good flow to me. I'm with ya @kimchi.

Gotta look it up, but if the purpose of this comp is to make an edit to get ppl stoked to ride, KB's def my pick hands down. Like I mentioned previously, the fact that majority is within the resort, makes it all the more relatable imo. And the obvs amazing style he has, of course.

If it is about the most difficult tricks made into an edit, I def understand the decision for Sage. But that also disappoints, since we already have the comp circuit for that 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Almost felt like he got too many clips. Shit just blends together, especially in real-time and in 90 seconds. Almost felt like he had enough for a 3 minute part, which would have let things breathe a bit.

To me KB on the SHE tip was the best.

Stale’s edit gave me seizures, way too much Gimbalgod IMO. I love the guys and the footage they put out but there was just too much crammed in the edit.

If haven't already seen. The Buckhouse call out loll, and "Cheap Thinker" 😅.

Also, of course T-Ricky gets the longest session with the gear segment.
