The Snowboard News, Scandal, & Grapevine Thread
That dude had an immeasurable effect on my life. I still have the handwritten letter he wrote me in '97 when I sent in a "sponsor me" letter at 9 years old. The fact that he took that time to sit down and respond and encourage some grom from Philly sticks with me literally every day in my own career. You're never too big or busy to take the time.

My first lesson was at Stowe VT on a Burton Cruiser. 1987. After 2 seasons on Sims (Switchblade and Kidwell), I met Alex Warburton (now at YES) at Ken Achenbach's Snoboard Camp on Blackcomb. He let me ride is Burton Air proto and that was it.
Those were my high school years. I literally lived for snowboarding then. Heck, I may not have made it through without…
RIP Jake. The impact of his work in the snowboard industry and what he's done with Burton has gotten me stoked on the start of every winter when I started boarding in my late 20's. My first board was a 2008 Uninc DCP, then started a quiver with a 2013 Fish, and have been riding my 2014 OG LL as a daily to this day.
The sport and his impact has gotten me to move overseas in search of snow, started my yearly shredcations for over a decade, met my son's mother in a hut while shredding Japan, and have given me life long friends through snowboarding.
