I didn’t say I thought it was easy.

yes you did. "more difficult" is the opposite of "easier". it's a reciprocal corollary necessarily implied.

Ummmm... "more difficult" is actually opposed by "less difficult", though maybe not in Canadian English?

less difficult = easier although maybe not in Trumpese.

LOL. The descriptor/comparative words from Spenser's statement were "more difficult". In the context of what he wrote, the inclusion of "more" to modify "difficult" implies that the thing being described is being ranked against another thing within the "difficult" category. That is basic contextual usage of ranking adjectives and adverbs in the English language. Within a category, something "more" would be oppositionally ranked to something "less".

So, no. Spenser was clearly not saying that what one snowboarder (Craven) was doing was easy while what the other snowboarder was doing (Longo) was difficult. He was implicitly stating that both riders engaged in difficult stuff, but that, in his opinion, Longo was doing the "more difficult" stuff. You, as per usual, mischaracterized what he wrote and then created a bullshit straw man argument.

Jason misrepresenting facts/what somebody actually said as a basis for attacking people and spewing hate and intolerance!?

Never! LOL

Gabe Ferguson & Sage officially on the pro team @ K2.

I remember when Sage was considered by people as uninteresting and not promotable. How times change.

Anyway, I always really enjoyed his riding and nowadays his media presence. Amazing style, tons of control and joy was amazing swell. So congrats to rider of the year and the new gig.

i think earlier in his career he was sort of just a comp kid, "second place sage" and theres so many good contest riders that he didnt necessarily stand out. the NIKE exposure helped him, but i always thought he was sick. winning the olympics for sure helped him. showed core guys he was different from the other contest riders (wins the olypmpics w the holy crail) and now like you said his social presence hes really relevant. K2 just keeps getting better. adding Gabe and Sage, and pat moore earlier this year

The olympic win seemed to get him the exposure, but even at that wasn't he board-sponsorless for a long ass time? Lots of comp riders seem that way, but comps still seem to play a big role in who trancends into pro-dom. It's like still important proving ground for being a pro rider, but the least important in terms of what snowboarders care about to the point that comp riders are so often not sponsored by board companies.

Like, you need to be at the top of the world in terms of skill and consistency but that doesn't mean you'll be able to easily live and eat.

To be honest before the Ohlimpdics I thought he was kind of a weird guy, eventhough he was there and did interesting grabs and didn't follow the usual triple cork train.

He rode for APO back then if I remember correctly.

As soon as he decided to go fully into filming and especially just backcountry he got interesting for me, probably because it showed he to me he is a real snowboarder. I love his style, reminds me at times at Müller with his tweaked out grabs or even at Rice but with more finesse.

Also going through footage it's obvious that backcountry snowboarding evolved his style immensely.

Jep, big fan of his riding.

yes i agree it is weird. theres a rookie world cup going on at a mountain near me tomorrow. i watched practice and there are obvisously sponsored riders, but many are still on this years gear which to me may indicate they arent getting much even though some of them were throwing back to back doubles. As said above he was on APO for a year or two.

He was on nitro right before the apo year which was also olympics year. after that he wasnt on anything for years, seen on capitas, then whatever anthem was, and finally finds a home

There was a comment on Sage's instagram that asked "what about Anthem?" and he said more on that later but I can't seem to find it. What's the deal with Anthem? The brand that never really happened?

I have something relevant to this thread:

Adidas just cut a ton of jobs and restructured. Heard that their snow program is maybe on the chop? Anyone confirms?

i thought it was confirmed that they were axing snow after 20/21, but was at my local shop today and the shop guys said that the adidas reps (this is a long run on sentence) are telling them adidas snowboarding was part of "adidas outdoor" and ran through their allotted budget over X years (??) and as of now the team is cut aside from blauvelt (which doc mentioned) but are covering current contracts in place and WILL be making boots past 20/21. but the shop dudes think that the reps might be full of shit too so.. rumor mill

That rep is a scam artist.

Its done, they either have to honor contracts or release riders from them if they want to entertain other offers, which is what they will probably do.

No new boots or outerwear for next year
