this may have been discussed or may be a wild rumor, but heard IPP is done after 20/21

+bonus rumor (RUMOR) that mothership is dropping some production for other companies

I personally never saw how IPP was substaining itself. Too narrow of a focus, and basically all the boards are the same. They had a few years where they were one of the hot new Indie brands, but that flamed out with a new flavor of the month and their actual product failed to carry them forward.

Not all like to ride penis shaped fatties. The best selling boards are still the all mountain or park focused twin style ones, at least around here. Then again, IPP never made its way here.

most likely. CAPiTA/The Mothership is restructuring their production for other companies, basically just setting a 1,000 board minimum order. IPP has made mayyyybe 500 boards in their biggest years, and it took them 3 seasons of factory shopping before they found what the needed at the Mothership, so they just don’t want to go through all of that again. but, word on the street is the brand itself is being shopped around to hopefully give it new legs. I think at the very least the IPP name will live on, but maybe no more boards for a while.

cc @dandan re: current dickhole discussion

no need to boycott CAPiTA, it’s just business. they want to focus on bigger production numbers from a few companies, vs smaller orders from a bunch of companies to streamline production, and make sure they were putting out the best stuff for themselves, too.

take a lap through any midwest park, and 25% of the boards you see will be IPP. we are also a very small corner of the internet (along with DMQ) that doesn’t just ride flat/cambered twins.

I think the boards’ simplicity is their success. anyone can hop on any one of those boards and have a good time, but not be riding the exact same graphic as their buddy who has one, too. With the addition of the Odessa series they are now making one board in (almost) every size from 148-159, with no overlap in models/sizes. you’ve got the Honalee in 150, 154, 158; Harrow in 148, 152, 156; and the Odessa fills in the odds with a 151, 153, 155, 157, 159, as well as being wider. pretty darn efficient lineup.

@dandan the interview says he's staying with all his other sponsors but changing board brands.

Seems weird, unless Nitro aren't paying him enough I think I'd much rather be the elder-statesman of Nitro than move to somebody else.

Thanks Cortado I didn't know there was a interview on Snowboarder, I found it through YouTube. Agree, the only reason I would've thought the quiver dudes would leave would be for their own board project.

dont know if anyone talked about this already but interesting the austin smith is leaving nitro, and doing it so publicly. he said in his snowboarder interview how he missed out on trying other products for nearly a decade. as fair of a point that is, why leave a company you love that makes any board you want?

Nobody is really getting "paid" these days by board brands, and with as deep of a roster as Nitro has, I doubt anyone on their program is getting that much money. Six figure incomes from board sponsors pretty much disappeared after the great recession, except for about 4-5 guys.

I'd be willing to bet a swift kick in the balls, he wasn't one of the 4-5.

Moving on happens, and just like all of us here on EZ, he's a human, and his interest changes and he wants to try/do something new. Pros are people too, they just ride better than you or I.

Sure he can design whatever he wants with nitro, but each brand still has their typical shaping, materials, feel… like, Mervin boards just have a different flavor than nitro, which has a different flavor than Burton, etc - I assume that’s what he meant.

Watch him go back to K2 with their other recent pickups, hah

I wonder if quiver series will continue on. I'm wondering now if thats why they didnt introduce any other new shapes for 2021?

Their team is huge.  But with that, they have been doing things differently as compared to other brands as of late.  I think they've had 3-4 team movies across consecutive years which is a statement.  I really appreciate Nitro, their team, and what they've been putting out.  Their movies and Quiver series is legit.

May not be cashed up with Nitro riding on their team, but they've got a great crew by the looks of it and having your own lineup (and not just one pro-model), but a series of them across 3 or so seasons is respect given by the brand.
