So first wax and tune session of the season last night. Putting my board on top of a worn out towel on my kitchen table to reduce friction is already old.

What do you guys that don't have full on tuning areas do? I'm pretty sure I've asked this on previous iterations. I tried to make my own clamps of sorts with wood and rubber. It was a spectacular failure. Saw horses in the past have been decent.

This is my set up... Works great, been using it for 12 years... Can use it in any room, or it can sit on any existing bench/table/countertop....

BUT, I live in Utah and it only gets used once or twice a season...

That's some damn ingenuity. That's more around what I'd be looking to make. Mind sharing some info on the pieces mounted there? Is that something you had laying around, or something I can snag and assemble from a home improvement store?

I use two folding chairs, with a yoga mat draped over the top.

Here is a link to the page where you can sell the vise.. It's a bit spendy...  http://www.testpilotgear.com/products/Repair~Tool.shtml

Then I just used 3/4 x 18" MDF to mount it.. I counter sunk the holes so the bolt heads didn't protrude and it was done...

That style may be my end game after seeing the price on those vises haha.

Flat irons just aren't made to wax something like the powder hull. Did you just keep at it until it was covered?

Yeah pretty much just side to side like a half pipe, then I have long dakine scraper i just kinda bent it as I was scraping the hull. It was pain in the ass I thought the scraper was going snap.

Swix 6 angle bevel tool. Has side edge and base edge beveling. It's pretty handy and easy to use.

Make friends with a local shop. Pop by with your decks at a slow hour with a 6pack. That tends to keep you away from the ski racer kid family price. Should be able to just zip them through the basic grinder quick.

I built out a little tuning area in my garage.  Can do waxing, sharping, base repair, etc...

It's where I hide out when the wife and kids are driving me nuts...lol
